4-5K buzz

Newbie here!!!

There was a thread about advancing the timing to get rid of the buzz around 4-5k.

The reply was to move the TPS at ~2000 rpm and lock when the buzz went away and then return the idle to 1000.

If this is a good idea, why did Kawasaki not do it?? There must be other factors at play here. Also where is the TPS??

I found that buzz on my bike was caused by the ashtray.

Wayne, Kawi sets the bike up lean to pass emissions tests.
Timing may or maynot cure the *buzz*. I would check obvious things like motor mount bolts being loose and make sure your throttle cables dont have too much slack in them. (90% of the bikes I see have loose cables)

Sorry, maybe I wasn't specific enough. There is a vibration which gives my goodies a buzz through the top cover in the range 4-5k. Fun enough at first but irritating now.

Somebody on the list adjusted the TPS and got rid of it.

The dealer just made sure everything was tight on the 4000 mile scheduled service, and it's been gone ever since.

I can't blame the two of you for that; I might do same if/when I have the puppy apart=extra weight/spinning mass, useless for racebikes. Until then, I find myself wondering if it actually "adjusts" anything....??

Anyone actually tried it?

Part of the buzz is the way the tank is battened down to the frame, it is held extermely tight on the rubber baby buggy bumpers, transferring that vibration through it. What I did to lesson the vibes was to put a couple of washers under the rear hinge (raising the tank a bit) then I made a longer spacer for the front bolt so that it allowed the grommet to isolate the tank a bit more. Also I put a nylock nut on the rear hinge pin bolt so I could loosen it up a bit so the rubber in there would dampen a bit. Now at 1/2 a tank the buzz is all but gone. With a full or empty tank it is there but not near as bad.

My carbon tank eliminated the buzz. Sometimes I found the buzz kind of exciting! My corbin seat also puts me in a different position whereby I am not in contact with the tank like I used to be.
