Bored as Hell!!!
Just picked up my brand new 01-ZX12R, pond-scum green, love it!!!!!1
Some questions:
1.The break-in is breaking me, jeeezzz, 4000 rpm for 500 miles is not too bad but then 6000 rpm for another 500 and below 9000 until 2000 miles!!! Gasp!!! I'm getting a serious itch to move thhings along.
I know of course that nobody contravenes the wise words in the owners manual but seriously is this neccessary?? I don't intend to hammer it but a few more thousand rpm would be nice.
2. I'm going to lower the bike with new dog bones from Spencers, 1-3/4 in the rear and drop the forks a max of 1-1/4. The next questions is will some hand and wrist relief be required using something like Helibars. Do they fit with no interference lock to lock??
3. When filling up the most I get is 1 bar less then full. I tried sitting on the bike while topping up the tank and the level was just below the bottom of the recess with the slot in it. Will it hold more and should I just persist??
Regards
Wayne

Follow the break in instuctions. It's hard, but will be well worth it in the end.For street riding try the middle position on the lowering links first and I believe 1-1/4" is way too much on the front.I lowered mine max 1/2" in the front and found the the bike to be level and still have adequate ground clearance.I'm 5'8" and can now put both feet flat on the ground. If you're a straight line guy then lower away.Just my humble opinion.

The break in goes really fast, followed it pretty well on my '02 and nos has 3200 miles. I think it's worth it, and change the oil! my 2 cents...

Dont you have to lower the front an equal amount to what you lowered the rear for?

As I understand from Doug Spencer the front is already lower then the rear and so 1-1/4".
