prepin bike for winter storage
gettin ready to store my bike for the winter its gettin to cold for me to ride. i was wonderin what kind of things i should do to be ready for the winter store  wish it was warn year round but thats what i get for livin in new england

Fill the gas tank and add some Stabil to the gas (follow the directions). Run it and change the oil. Yes, BEFORE you store it. Take the battery out so you can easily put it on the charger every couple weeks. I have plugs wired into all my bikes so I can charge 'em in the bike.
Over inflate the tires to so if they deflate a bit they won't deform.
If you can, avoid using the side stand so you don't put an asymetric load on the fork seals (they'll weep eventually).
Oh, and I always try and go for a ride on Christmas.

If you use Nitrogen air in your tires then you'll never lose air!!!
Ive been using nitrogen for a couple years now, its awesome stuff !!!

JK JK lol (im just completely jelous of your weather :P ) .thats just not fair haha. it was a few degrees below freezing here this morning before the sun came up. chance of snow in a few days
Listen to Doug. if possible put the bike on front and rear stands to keep the tires off the ground. even better is a type of stand that picks the bike up by the frame and stering stem so the suspension has no weight on it (saves your springs)
CR, do you use nitrogen for drag racing? do you have to adjust tire pressure at the track at all???

Hell yeah I use it for DragRacing.....
Very predictable, always the same characteristics, always the same pressure fluctuations!!!
Try it NOX...
I have an 11gal. air tank and Costco fills it up with NITROGEN !!!
If you want my set up and all the details on how to set the tire pressure for DragRacing, PM me and we can work out the fee !!!
Just bustin balls about the fee guys!!!

Nitrogen is less sensitive to pressure changes with temp (pure gas-less mass than air) but it isn't any more resistant to leakage. Also, over time (a long time) it will not oxidize the rubber.

Wanted to refute your leakage statement but turns out you were completely on the money. Everywhere I went they were dogging nitrogen as basically a waste of time unless you race.

"Consumer Reports wanted to find out if nitrogen is worth the price, so we purchased a Nitrogen Inflation System and checked out how well the inflation held up over a one year period. We evaluated pairs of 31 tire models of H- and V-speed rated, all-season tires used in our tread wear test from 2006. We filled one tire per model with air and the other with nitrogen. The test was quite simple: fill and set the inflation pressure at room temperature to 30 psi (pounds per square inch); set the tire outdoors for one year; and then recheck the inflation pressure at room temperature after a one year period.
The test started on September 20, 2006 and the final measurements were taken on September 20, 2007. The results show nitrogen does reduce pressure loss over time, but the reduction is only a 1.3 psi difference from air-filled tires. The average loss of air-filled tires was just 3.5 psi from the initial 30 pressure setting. Nitrogen-filled tires lost an average of 2.2 psi from the initial 30 psi setting. More important, all tires lost air pressure regardless of the inflation medium, so consumers should check their tires' air pressure routinely. No evaluation was done to assess the aging claim."

might want to roll the motor over a few times at different
weeks intervals "Do Not Start It" to unload or vary valve springs
compression, cap off exhast and intake
