cold starts
when i start my zx12 it usally takes three trys to get it started... i was wonderibg if there is any reason for this also when it does start i hear this high pitched humming noise i think that is is something to do with the fuel but im not sure

the high pitched humming noise is the fuel pump pressurizing the fuel rail. wait till that humming stops before hitting the starter, maybe it'll start on 1st try.

One thing to remember, no matter how long you wind on the starter, the injector only squirts one time!

Is this correct ? I can't believe this is correct. If they only fired once what's the indicator to tell the ECU the engines running and resume injector firing ?
My experience with this (A2 model) when I had a non-starting bike I had the throttle bodies hanging to the side of the bike so I could see with my own eyes that the injectors were firing, on first crank all injectors fire simultaneously and from then on they take up their independent firing (according to cam and crank sensor I suppose).

My Muzzy piped 12R would exhibit that trait if I didn't have the power commander installed.

cover up half of the exhaust with your hand when you go to start it. you are turning the fast idle lever on right?

Okay. Maybe I'm not correct. I only noticed the injectors firing once on the bike I was working on. Weird. I wound on the starter a while and the plugs never got wet. Perhaps the fuel pressure was bled off after the first squirt?
