Be careful guys, I've been hearing BAAAAAAD things about the LEO's in the area.

Stay away from the dragon for about 2 years. I'm not kidding...NC State Patrol are also ganging up on the sportbikers on 28. No mention of Cherohala, but you have to ride through TN or 129 to get there.
Don't consider riding The Gap (or many roads around it) for a while...word has it that a group got ticketed for 30 in a 35, but not for speed. It was TN's liberal interpretation of Drag Racing that got them the citation. Drag racing will get you 7 points and a hefty fine. 7 points would make me uninsurable here in NC.
The Gap isn't all that great. There are plenty other roads in the area further east. After the Cobra comes in next week I'll go through the Gap on 4 wheels just to see what's going on and talk to any cops I see.

other roads in area
nc: wayah road, along wayah creek, ride careful is residential, but great scenery in a few places near the lake.
cherohala had like 4 new wreaths on the road since last time i rode along it.
(like last month)
gap: tonnes of gravel again, treelimbs, and junk/debris
one crashed hayabusa thursday afternoon, no rider nearby, but it was stood up on sidestand.
robbinsville, cops out wazoo
mine last month was 67 in 55, traffic movingabout 65...so again you are enemy #1 on sportbike.
maggie valley: wheels through time museum. 12 bux to get in, some nice old cages, and LOTS of vintage bikes
a nice ace (guy rode it and got it dirty that day we were there)
bunches of harley early models and up, fletcher flyers etc. most of the bikes are supposed to run.
weekday though dont even attempt ride through cherokee area on weekend.
cherohala to 360, take LEFT on 411, few miles up right on hwy 72 (headed west). mile or 2 later LEFT on 322, have fun, beware residential. 322 crosses 11 in sweetwater, then continues many many miles more twisty stuff to hwy 72 again (loop maybe?) 322 ends, 72 west goes to tn hwy 58. north goes to crossville (30 miles) didnt go that way. south eventually gets you to chattanooga.
east on 72 ought to bring you right back to 411 again.
cherohala to tellico, go to hwy68 turn left, this road will bring you to hwy60 in georgia, direct route to TWO.
decent road once you get away from tellico
just a few alternatives.
deals gap still great road, but man people are being pricks and nannystate has descended its glare.
tnhp seem to be the ones that instigated getting ron & nancy shut down, it looks like they just want everyone to be gone fromthere.
theblueridge is also decent, tickets on it are not driving record tickets, and fines are generally small. (40 or so bux)
hwy 58 in VA s also good, expect decent ride up and back though.
anywayhope this helps, ive been scouting as much new stuff as i can.

Dave, I think its when the Tinman moved in next door to him. After drinking a few Busch lites, Harry introduced himself by taking the Tinman and putting him out on the curb with the other recyclables!

No way!!! They shut down Tail Of The Dragon? That blows! How the hell can they do that? People set up roadside stands all the time. I guess they dont own the Overlook tho...
