Countershaft sprocket Question?
The previous owner of my 12R installed a 1 under countershaft sprocket. Excelleration is brisk but I'm always looking for another gear on the hyw, and with gas prices up....
So is the nut holding the countershaft sproket on, right or lefthand thread?
Also, I've heard several 12R owners say that they run regular gas in there bike, but the one time I tried it, the engine knocked as I pulled away from traffic lights. I recently had a discussion with a gas station owner who said do NOT use gas with ethenol in it because of this and reduced gas mileage. Any help is appreciated.

It is a Regular NUT Clock wise to tighten! (All Kawasaki's are the same here! Use the 18 Tooth you are better off without the extra wearing of the engine turing the extra RPMS

thanks Scott, I got the stock 18 tooth from with the bike, it's like new. Having a hard time breaking that nut loose without an impact wrench. I put it in gear, had my wife sit on the bike, press the rear break and it's still turning the wheel/engine etc.... I'm thinking about placing a 2'x4" (wood) thru the wheel and swing arm to keep the rear wheel from turning.
good idea?
other ideas?

The 2x4 didn't work for me nor would my pos Lowe's kobalt impact gun I
had to borrow a craftsman professional impact gun and finally that did the trick.

Without the bike in gear or someone on the rear brake or anything, my $50 Harbor Freight Electric Impact removes the Nut every time with the 1 1/16 inch socket!. Just went to an 18 on the ZRX which comes stock with a 17!

i use a small section of box channel iron wrapped in a towel or old shirt,, wedge it in the wheel,, might have to take the hugger off if you have one,, have her sit on the bike and apply the rear brake ,,DONT put it in gear,, put tension on the nut with a breaker bar and use a LONG jack handle slipped over it and badda bing she will give it up,, DONT PUT IT IN GEAR! damage might occur.. all about leverage..
OH yea,, btw,, i had the same issue reaching for another gear and i went toi a 17/45 and wont look at another combination now,, it runs AWESOME all the way around!
