NICE TO HAVE A COP IN THE FAMILY!
So im riding home cause there wasnt work today (union driver) and while on the Grand Central Parkway while still in NYC Limits,, putting along ,,not breaking the speed limit (RARE),, i notice a Highway 3 Patrol Car in the center lane (NYCs highway patrol),, i am in the left lane to the right of center as oil and crap accumulate in the center,, anyhow as im coming up on him he stradles the left and center lanes and hits his lights,, so i figure i was going a little fast for him,, it was very lite traffic at about 10 am,,(rare) anyhow as i pull into the center lane he keeps guiding me all the way over and hits his lights full time and pulls me over,, on the PA asks me to turn off the bike and wheel it into the safe partt of the median,, which i do,, this guy gets out and right after i say good morning officer he starts telling me that i was white lining and that i failed to signal as i crossed the other 2 lanes to pull over etc. i tell him that i was right of center in the lane but he keeps insisting that i was on the line and that he is gonna give me 8 points worth of tickets,, as a CDL Driver i would be in a world of hurt if that happened,, so my last resort is to break out the PBA cars that i have and a Detective card that my cousin gave me,, he didnt want to hear it,, so i asked if i could put him on the phone with my cousin and he said sure,, so i dial the number and it goes to voice mail! about 2 minutes later my cousin returns the call (thank god) and i explain that i got pulled over by HWY3 and he says put him on the phone,, i hand him the phone and he rolls up his window and starts talking to him,, about a minute later he calls me over and say my cousin said to bury me if i in fact did what the officer claimed and said it with a straight face,, i know he would never say that,, so he gives me a funny look and while putting on his seat belt hand me my license,, reg and ins.,, and laughs at me,, i thanked him and he said no problem,, as im returning to my bike he gets back on the PA system and says THANX FOR NOT RUNNING ON ME,, I WOULDVE HAD TO CHASE YA..
and then speeds off,, that was an ass puckerer and thank god i got the return phone call just in time,, im sure i dont have to tell you other NYers about these HWY guys and they are thick over on the GCP on the Queens/ Long Island Border,, so just watch out guys,, nice to dodge a big bullet like that one.. lets hear some of your stories.. today was a good day!

Is it true that all fines are doubled if you have a CDL?

8 points? I don't know if the laws are different out there, but here if you have more than 4 points in the last 12 months, they take your license away.

In the last 20 years I have been pulled over many times but only given a single ticket. And its not because I never ride or drive like a saint. When I lived in Phoenix I didn't even own a car for years and I put 23k miles on my 12 the first year I had it and less than 5k on my car. Also if your not going to go over 100mph at least once during your ride what is the point of taking all that time to suit up and move the cars and uncover the bike etc.
When I lived in Phx I had family in San Diego and used to love taking off at about 10pm (to hot during the day) and bombing over to SD. Nothing like riding in the desert at night with a full moon. At one point between El Centro and Yuma I'm cruising along at 3am doing 90mph and I glance over at the parallel access road and see some headlights pacing me. I think, boy he is driving fast. Then he passes under a streetlight and I see its a CHP. They pulled me over but didn't give me a ticket. They could of nailed my ass. Apparently they had been following me far enough to see that I would slow down to the limit when ever I approached and passed other cars and ???? why to this day I don't know and I didn't ask. They did spend a lot of time asking questions about my new 750 interceptor.
One new years eve I had no less than 3 Wash State Patrol cars in front of my house. One had passed me going the other way around one of my favorite turns coming into town but couldn't get turned around in time to catch up with me coming into city traffic. He put it out on the radio and a second guy picked me up and followed me home where the first guy later showed up and then the shift supervisor. I pulled into my garage clueless got off the bike turned around and the guy is standing in my garage, Drivers license and registration please, scared the shit out of me. They had no radar, they hadn't paced me, I wouldn't admit to shit. Then they start eyeballing the bike and exhaust trying to get me on an equipment violation. The one guy suddenly realized that my son and his son went to the same preschool and they suddenly lost interest. But not before they gave me a We know who you are and where you live and what you ride speech. Seeing as I was the only guy in my town with a bright green ZX-9 it was a contributing factor in my deciding not to go with the green ZX-12.
Also when I was living in Phx one day just before I went to work for some inexplicable reason I took some cash out of my wallet for lunch and then tossed it on the kitchen table. You see AZ had this thing about people coming down there to work and not getting local license and plates it was some outrageous fine like $500 (back when that was big money) if you had a job in AZ but out of state plates. Sure enough some DHS guy doesn't like the way I went around the cloverleaf onto the highway and pulls me over. It was looking like rain so i had my rain suit on and a tank bag to stuff the rainsuit in later if it didn't rain. Also I had just turned on to the road south to Tucson so I tell the guy a bald face lie to his face and said I'm from out of town just passing through. I've got no wallet (no business cards) no proof I live in Phx on me. I told him I lost my wallet in Vegas. He doesn't believe I have no ID so he puts me up against the car and starts patting me down just as my ex cop boss drives by. So the cop lets me off with a warning and is actually explaining to me how Tucson is not the best way to get to San Diego and is looking thru his trunk for a map to give me when my boss pulls up. He saw me up against the car and figured he would see if he could help me out being an ex-cop and giving the old I work with this guy he is a good guy etc etc.
I had just spent the last ten minutes shamelessly lying my ass off to the cop about my cross country trip, my family, how I lost my wallet in Vegas and my boss was going to spill the beans. I told the cop he was a friend I knew in town and was able to talk to my boss out of ear shot of the cop before he said anything. Of course I get on my bike after and start heading down the road and the cop follows me. I don't want to turn off into town cause I told him I was going to Tucson and I'm thinking I hope HE isn't going to Tucson but he turned off at the next Denny's
Once I was cruising on the 12 and a line of 5 or 6 cars is coming from the other direction when a big sedan in the center slowly drifts off the road and starts plowing up the embankment. Must have fallen asleep at the wheel. I had no cellphone and there were other people stopping so I kept going and not 2miles later I get lite up by a WSP in the bushes. First thing I tell him when I get my helmet off is. I don't know if you've heard on the radio yet but someone just plowed their car off the road about 2 miles back there. He gets in his car, comes back hands me my stuff and says slow it down and takes off towards the accident. He had me for 72 in a 60.
But the most amazing story of all just happened this fall.
I call myself RidgeRacer because I live a mile from the Hurricane Ridge Road and consider it my own private little race track. 17 miles of twisties dead ending at the top of the mountain. Its a National Park road so there are no houses, no trucks, and no cops. There are Park Rangers but they are severly understaffed and only have the one car with radar but they use that out at the lake where the hiway goes thru the park. In the 20 plus years I have been riding this road I have never seen a sheriff, WSP, city cop, nothing. But always in the back of my mind I'm thinking I'm going to blow by one too many of these tourists someday someone is going to get on the phone and call the cops on me.
So I here on the radio that the ridge is going to get its first snow of the year meaning the end of ridge racing for the season. It's cold but clear and dry so I decided to get one last ride in. Beautiful day, very 'nice' ride I'm in the zone. At the end of my ride I'm heading home, tired, mellowed out not pushing it but well over the posted 35mph. I lean into a blind corner and three white washington state patrol cars pass me going the other way!!
In my whole life and literally thousand times I've been on this road I've never seen a WSP and now there are three of them!!! Are they here for me? Do I run? They are never catching me on this road, but whats waiting at the ranger gate? Then I pass four more heading up the mountain Could be only one reason....they are here for me! My imagination is running wild. Somebody called me in today. No, people have been calling me in all summer. I start checking the sky for a helicopter. Wait this is stupid. Three or four more go by. I don't know what is going on but I'm going to tip toe the fuck out of here.
I lost count but it was easily more than a dozen WSP vehicles including a couple of their stealth cars and an H3 hummer with a shitload of radio antennas coming out of it bringing up the rear. To this day I don't know what must have been every stater in a hundred mile radius was doing driving up a dead end mountain road at 10am on a Wednesday morning. I ran into them on my way home at the bottom of the ridge were the limited sight distance, trees and blind corners keeps your speed down. But if they had caught me up the ridge in a high speed sweeper all leaned over doing 100+ I can't help but think that at least one of them would of taken an interest in me.
Some days I think I'm just the luckiest guy I know. Others I think payback is going to be a bitch.

It is very nice, I have my badge and ID from the fire department so it helps me out 99.9% of the time, not that I take advantage of it, but it is nice to have. But when i head home to NYC my cousin is with the state patrol and my other cousin is with the NYPD so it helps, especially speeding on the BQE, At times I drive to NYC and the Fire FIghter plates on my vehicle helps out, just courtesy you know.

Just livin the good life twista, you know how it is.
Working my way through a valve adjust on my 12r right now. I was hoping that I would not have to change any of my shims with only 15k miles on the clock, but all my exhaust valves were out of spec (too tight) so I ordered shims last week now just need to get a calm afternoon so I can attack the project.

I have had a few let me go when I was a cop......., but I had to say, I have a gun, every time.......
I kept a baby glock in my jacket......
I do not miss being a cop though........., I now see why so many people hate cops......., there are so many that abuse the position......, its sad.

i was a Constable for a while,, in Henderson Nevada,, (outside of Las Vegas),, and i would never disclose that i was wearing a weapon while a Constable and while a civilian also,, UNLESS asked,, that is the whole reason why its called a CONCEALED weapon.
had the Model 26,, but it was too small so i went to the 29 Glock,, 10mms are the way to go,, number 3 on the tottem pole,, dont like the 45s that you can see flying thru the air.. and yes you can see them,, especially at the range.. 175 grain Silver tip @1300fps is what i want on my hip,, pretty much stop a bear in its tracks,, gotta add that my HK P-7 M-13 was the true Rolls Royce,, gotta love the squeeze cockers.. enough on the guns though,, carry on guys.. And yes you are right,, there are TOO many that let it go to their head,, and then there are some that are real,, i know alot of COOL cops that i grew up with ,, but i seem to have the run ins with the assholes for some reason,, at least this guy was willing to even get on the phone with my cousin.. that was cool..

Well, it was, I am an off duty cop, and I am armed., was more like it.......
I have seen a .380 bounce off a guys head, and he filled out a statement afterward.
I liked the HK USP .45 double stack. That is what I was issued till we went to glock 22s.
No one had big enough hands to hold the 10 mm. I liked it, but ammo is a concern too. its exspensive, and a double stack 45 is big in the hand........
I like a big 45 or 10 though. bullet weigt goes a long way, look at the 45.70, slow, but knocks the poop out of whatever it hits.......
Home protection is the .44 mag.......
as its the only handgun I have left,
