substitute filters OEM
Kawasaki has now replaced 16097-0002 .. or should I say discontinued the filter and the new substitute is the 0004. Which is the same as the filter used in the 14. It is slightly larger. Will there be a performance difference with this?.. other than a little more oil windage. Probably not since KHI thinks it is ok... or maybe they are just trying to save a buck.

quote: oil windage from a filter??
funny funny... I meant the bike will carry more oil as a result of the increased size... but I guess the motor is not really having to pull more through it.. .. might just be silly. I guess I am looking for pro's / cons of a larger filter. I am not an engineer obviously.. haha

I always use the Largest filter I can find! In my BMW 320I I use the filter for the Porsche 924. The only thing is the construction must be similar! In Other words to handle the same Oil Pressure and flow.
The larger filter will allow more oil to cool more and oil filtration
