Bike Creeping ??
OK i just put the billet clutch,, 02 hub NEW fibers and steels (12 fibers and 11 1.6 steels,,
fired it up arfter changing the filter and oil,, let it warm up for a good ten minutes.. and when i put it in gear its wanting to creep forward slightly,, i called a buddy who races 12s and he told me that the 12 is notorious for this,, ALSO it is 30 degrees here in NYC and the oil i use is pretty thick (15/50 MOBILE 1) do i have anything to worry about is it just a matter of riding the bike in warmer weather and letting the clutch break in,, free play is maybe a cunt hair over 1/8 inch and i pulled the cable snug at the clutch cover and sinched down the 2 12mm nuts,, my stack height was dead on @ 57.4 any help on if a new clutch should be creeping like this,,it is also hard to get into neutral when in first gear at a dead stop!

We spoke about this! I had not read this post. I think the first or second thing I sad could cause this was 50 weight Oil! I did not know anything about your bike.
Now that I have read this post, Again I say 50 weight oil, and now the Stack Height! If it too high then the amount of Room with the clutch fully dissengaged is smaller and then the 50 weight does the rest SPECIALLY WHEN COLD!

just wanted to point out that when my bike is up on the rear stand and in neutral, when i rev it, the wheel will move a bit. the bike just wants GO lol:P take it for a drive (yours is telling you it wants to GO too:P) maybe the plates are just sticking cause they are new? maybe they are too dry? the 02 hub is supposed to be like the muzzy hub, so after a drive they shouldnt be dry....

Thicker oil could be it actually. Have you ever noticed the 12's wheel spins when on a rear stand with 10W40 oil in neutral? Thicker oil maybe exasperates this if my line of thinking is correct.

thanx for the response Ship! i am getting alot of that,, and as i said,, it went together flawless and by the book,, stack was tits etc. so im thinking the cold weather and the oil that is like syrup might be the culprit.. thanx guys

Waste of time to soak the plates. All you have to do is wipe them with wet oily fingers when installing. Did you ever see a "wet" plate on disassembly? Of course not. If they don't run "soaked" why soak them? Also your oil is too heavy. Maybe even too much oil still in the stack. (which will work out quickly of course) Try a 5/30 synthetic. Check the position of the puller shaft lever vs. the cable boss. There is a photo in the manual, I believe. It should be all good. .....

i read a post somewhere where it was said to soak em overnight,, my bad,, my brother we did what you said,,the angle is perfect it can only go on one way which is the right way correct,, provided the stack height is correct and cable adjustment on both ends are correct,, correct,,, thanx Doug,, what about in the summer is the 15/50 any good,, im using what others are stating they use in posts that i have read,, whats the difference between the 2 oil weights?

It's a measure of the equivalent viscosity The oil "acts like" it is a 5 wt when it's cold and a 50 wt when it's hot. Not to worry. I use Motul 300V 15/30 or 15/40 all the time in everything I own.
