Help and Advice please

Ok, situation is this. I had the bike apart for a few different reasons among which were to install the Heat Blanket from Y2K and also to pull the K&N Filters and check them. I had ridden in the rain quite a bit the other night and today when I went into the garage, there was a very foul odor coming from the bike. Water had gotten trapped in the air box and in the resonators. The water had gone very sour.

While I had the filters out and the rubber ram air tubes off, I covered the intake boots with plastic wrap to make them water tight (so I thought). I then sprayed water in the air box to wash it out and clean it up. There was a lot of K&N oil all over the air box. I assume that they got washed out when I was in the rain. There was also a lot of road grime and dead bugs that had been washed back from the snorkel.

I had the bike over on its side stand and I figured the water would run out the drain tube.

I guess the freaking tube was clogged with K&N oil and did not allow the water to run out. Before I knew it, there was water building up in the air box. As soon as I saw it I shut the water off, set the bike up vertical to get the water level to lower, and yanked the tube off the air box. The water immediately started to drain.

I used compressed air to dry the air box out and put the bike up on the rear pit-bull stand.

I then decided to start the bike up and let the heat evaporate the rest of the water. It seemed to start fine... I had to use the "choke" since it was a completely cold engine.

I let the bike idle for a few minutes with the occasional blip of the throttle taking the rpms to about 6 or 7 k.. The oil light never came on and the bike ran fine. When the temp came up to the 9:00 position, I shut the bike down, put it in the garage and went to watch WSB while the bike cooled down.

When I went back out the check on the bike and finish up what I was doing, I looked at the oil level. The level was a little higher than normal and it was a cream color .

It was at that point that I knew that some water had gotten into the engine. I don't know how much, but enough that it turned the Mobile 1 MX4T 10w40 full synthetic oil (which only had about 1000 miles on it) the cream color.

I have since drained all the oil out of the bike and am looking for advice now.

Have I hurt the engine? Did I wash the oil off the bearings in the few minutes that the bike ran?
Now remember, the oil light never came on and the bike seemed to rise in temp as it always has. No Faster. I never heard anything out of the normal.

I'm thinking I need to flush the engine with some cheap dino oil before I put the good stuff back in. Anyone agree or disagree?

I bought 3 qts of Pennzoil 10w40 car dino oil but haven't put it in till I get some advice. (I've run Mobile 1 MX4T since about 500 miles and now have over 14,000 miles)

I'm not going to do anything until I get some advice from the experts

My guts tell me that no damage has taken place but the engine needs to be "flushed" with oil to make sure all old oil/water mix is out of the engine. Then change the oil again with the mobile 1 that I usually use.

no expert here , but quite often car blow head gaskets
which gets the same creamy oil. Most of the time
people drive these cars alot farther before they know
something is wrong. I know this is not a car but
i say Rinse the engine(run for 15-20 min) with cheap oil
to get all the goop out then refill with good oil.

I feel that you haven't done any damage. I bought a wrecked bike that sat in water overnite. I flushed the motor several times after taking it apart and physically cleaning some internal from rust deposits. I feel that you are on the right track. I would use some engine clean, like flush use it as described and then put your motor oil back in the bike. Ensure that you change the oil filter after the flushing. I don't think you will have any problems.

Advice

As far as the motor goes, as mentioned previously flush the motor.

More advice.

Should not be a problem. For peace of mind, change your oil and filter a couple of times over the next week or so depending on your riding. Should not be a problem.
