ACE PERFORMANCE debut Zx12 Maxton

Hey guy's going to Maxton this weekend and I am bringing up a couple of ZX12's
they are both N.A. all motor only !
My customer and good friend wanted me to build him a 200 MPH + ZX12
so he could race at the street races and LSR racing.
We started off with a 1287cc kit and some Ace Perf, head work, intake & exhaust porting
with a little bit of combustion chamber touch up.and a little something extra done on the head customer info only ,cam combo, balanced crank,
balanced rods, and piston's.
Engine has all clearances to a specific clearances.
Race cut transmission with heavy duty clips
All new bearings on crank and rods
The bike finished off with a REAL WORLD TUNE.
Our goal is to go 203-205 MPH at Maxton
With this bike I have tried ALOT of different mods, cam timing we now have a really good package setup, the bike is very quick through the gears and very smooth and just keeps on pulling.
I will keep you guys posted on what the 2 bikes do.
Sal / Ace Performance.

He said "Real WOrld Tune"! To me, that meant not peak power but a great power curve and better Torque curve. I am betting about 198 SAE HP

My bike has never been on the dyno with the new engine. I learned a while back that dyno numbers mean nothing. Performance Results is how a bike is measured in the real world so we go by E/T and MPH.

I'll be honest, I'm a little curious to see what the dyno would say.... but not to look at a peak number, mostly to see the shape of the power curve.

If I had to guess, I'd say 194-197rwhp SAE on a DJ250 on pump gas.

Tuning for the REAL WORLD always shows less power on the dyno but gives you more performance at the track. This is why the "power numbers" are not the important factors when looking at a dyno graph.

I hear the other 12R you're bringing is a pretty strong runner, with a few engine mods as well....

Is Dale still gunning for that cheeseburger??

I'll be bringing my scale...I'm interested to see how bike AND rider weights stack up

I would like to see roughly what motor mods Dale has (Stage 1, I think?)...just so I can get a realistic idea of how we should run....

Phantom suggested earlier that this bike might be possible of 200 on motor....so it must have quite a bit of prep. No stock motor 12 will do that in a mile!

Regardless, the cheeseburger race is on!

Should be a fun weekend!! Although all of the last minute prep is stressing me out!!

Shane,
I know of two stock motor 12's with pipe & PC that have run 200 at Maxton. I've ran 203 with only base gasket removal and cam degreeing. Chad ran 197 on his 12 with 15mph headwinds with only pipe & PC............The 12's can and have done it. I'm only bringing this up because I like for the bikes to receive their due. A 12 is a great LSR platform, in my humble eyes maybe the best with minor mods.

No doubt the Ace gang will make a good showing, they always do.

Good luck to yourself and everyone who runs this week-end. Wish I could have made it but the boys will be there.

Dan,

I'd love to see a stock motor 12 run 200. I know that my bike has been 189 on the limiter (well before the traps). Maybe sometime I will be able to snag Chad and give him the proper gearing to see what it can really do...

I'm just too heavy right now to turn those high numbers, I think. I'm going to weigh in at the track. I expect the bike to be about 510 and my weight at around 250 or so suited.

So, there will be at least 4 12's running this weekend. The two from ACE, Ali, and me...

I here you on the real world vs. the dyno world. I was just curious because my motor is carpenter built with (nearly)every trick in the book. Although i'm not a top end racer i'm thinking my bike would run similiar to yours with the same rider. My motor on a dynojet has made as high as 202.3 hp and a low of 186 depending on whatever conditions, different dynos and operators on 91 octane.

O.K. guys results of the Maxton runs are in.
The Phantom 1287cc bike performed very well at Maxton with Phantom himself
riding his bike geared for 200.5 MPH hit the rev limiter and nosed over to only go
198 + mph thru the traps and his GPS reading 199+ MPH not refreashing in time to
show actual 200 + mph Phantom is 222 lb's
I then had Phantom do a gear change on the bike but went a little too tall for myself and slowing my speeds down a bit to trap a respectable 205.6 M.P.H. all motor N.A.
The bike had ran 207 MPH with myself riding it before, we did have a small issue wich should have been changed but I am very pleased with the 205.6 MPH for now
and Phantom had a smile from ear to ear.
We had a bit of bad luck the day before dales Zx12 was runing like crap stalling out and poping out the exhaust.
I had looked at the bike the morning we were leaving and went for his
powercommander PC3R as the culprit lucky we had a PC USB and was reinstalled
but with no time for a complete remap so we put some #'s in real quick for Dale so he could go to Maxton and have some fun, Dale only went 175 mph last year at Maxton stock motor and picked up to 188-189 mph after the motor work done @ our 9/10's
Dale only went 183 + this year @ Maxton with a ????? map. Dale is 240 + lb.s we will remap and be back next year.
I also had our ACE Busa 1507cc there pulling some killer speeds of 219.9 and 220.0 MPH
on GPS just before the traps of the Maxton mile this bike is ALL MOTOR N.A.
timimg lights showing 218 mph after running the limiter the last 150' of the mile.

You did seem to have ideal weather, but even perfect weather doesn't put up mph like you guys got. EXCELLENT!

You really need to make a trip to the Texas Mile in March; we'll show all y'all some TFA Texas hospitality

The bike ran good! I'm very pleased!

Next time, I'll gear appropriately and will go 200+mph Naturally Aspirated for sure.

Although, next time there WILL be nitrous on the bike.... maybe 205-206mph with me on a small shot? 211-212mph with THEICEMAN on it?

Either way, it was very fun! I met a lot of great people there and I hope to see everyone again in March 2008!

Only one way to find out brother! Come out to Maxton and join the fun in March. The more ZX-12R's the better!

You've heard the saying, "YOU DON'T KNOW UNTIL YOU TRY IT"

I'm sure THEICEMAN will make a pass on your bike if you ask him.

Personally, I'm curious to see how a similarly built Carpenter 1287 stacks up against an ACE PERFORMANCE 1287.

I'd just like to take a minute now that the dust has settled to thanks a few people...

Sal Spatafora a.k.a. "THE ICE MAN" - Thank you for making my dreams a reality! All the hard work and headaches finally paid off. You said at the very begining the bike would run 205mph..... and you delievered, despite the problems we encountered at the track!

Sal, I don't know how else to put this..... I just want to say, YOU ARE THE F'ING MAN!!!!!!!!!

Mike a.k.a. "Deezuhl" - Thanks for making sure everything ran smooth at the track and single handedly taking care of things in the pits and the starting line. Oh, and an extra special thank you for getting my bike to start on that last run!!!

Dale a.k.a. "Muckdog" - Thanks for the lift to Maxton and allowing me to use your tools! It was a fun trip, I can't wait till next year. Thanks for the sprocket too!

Ali a.k.a. "Shiphteey" - Thanks for the motivation to keep going faster!

Thank's guy's it was fun building and trying ALOT of different things to see what this bike
really likes, head porting, 2 sets of different cams, changing everything around, and alot of little mods that made the difference.
In the end we have a really nice package very quick and fast.
