high rpm shift?
I have a Y2K 12R with full Muzzy exhaust, PCIII usb and K&N airfilters.
I have had problems with the bike going into gear at high rpms, I usually will run the thing from 2 - 6, shifting @ 11000. I have had too many missed shifts because I pull the clutch really hit the lever to get it to go in and as soon as I let out.....VROOOM!!! 12000 +!!
The kawa dealer dropped the engine last winter and changed 2 shift forks, said the gears and clutch were still good.
We have a 1.5 mile road to race on with 17/46 gearing I get an indicated 200 - 210 which is probably 180 - 185.
With 18/46 gearing I usually see 185 - 190...
I weigh 265 and run the BT 14's, I run both the 190 / 200 rear tires.
I would like to know how to cure that missed shifting problem, what top speed I can expect with the Muzzy 1270/1375 kit in these conditions?

You upshift with the clutch??
Unless you want to bend your shift forks again, I would suggest you avoid "really hitting the lever" when you shift.
A weak clutch would not cause these symptoms, but a broken clutch component may.

Anything over 7000 and I rarely ever use the clutch. Just blip the throttle a tad while holding a little pressure on the shifter.

One thing is that there is 3 shift forks - should really change all of them when down there. And just for record - You don't have to pull the engine. Just take exhaust and oil pan off and Your there. Done that after I had problems with going to higher gear. The dogs weren't at the service limit, but it is a very close design so it allready started the gear change troubles - expecially when hot. And maybe You should also change the gear selection drum...

Yeah I do use the clutch lever...so the trick is to load the shift lever and blip it in on the throttle? I'll give that a try.
Am I out of the powerband shifting at 11000, should I be shifting at a lower RPM?
I generally shift at the same point even when I'm using the 17/46 gearing.
For top speed runs do you all crank down your suspension to full hard? I usually run with 4 lines showing preload, front compression 5 clicks out, rebound 4 clicks out. Rear 1 compression 1 turn out from full hard, and rebound 5 clicks out.
The gear selection drum?... you know I wonder..... I have a digital gear indicator on my bike and sometimes at high RPMs it will be reading the wrong gear...It was reading 4th gear @ 10,000 rpms when it was actually in 6th....
