could be a whole ton of things...
check your oil first for "gold" if so you got a spun bearing...
then pull your pan and look at your tranny maybe have a damaged shift fork?
check the clutch basket make sure it is not broken or loose...
where is the knocking comign from?
How/When did it start after anything special happened?

I had what I would describe as more of a rattle than a knock, that came from the clutch area that went away when the clutch was pulled in. It was cracked clutch basket. (but it also did it in neutral).

clutch rattle is pretty common with heavy springs, not sure where it comes.
It sounds more like a big dry bearing than a knock.

tranny gear pcs...
or any metal at all...
did you pull your clutch fibers all the way out? You might have some broken fibers (longshot) but maybe causing your noise...

Look for broken cushion springs in the basket itself. Make sure the drive gear anti backlash is working properly.
