Lightweight battery information?

Supposedly the ZX-12's battery is a whopping 8.1 pounds! Yikes! And I think it calls for about 200 cold cranking amps.

My question is what lightweight battery options could one look into? Obviously the big motor guys can not really go this route presumably.

I was looking at the YTX5...its about 3.5 pounds...only 70 cca though....would this be ok in the zx12 if I run it in warm temps only w/no lights drawing power from the system? We had one at the shop I wanted to try on my bike but it was just too dead to even take a charge.

I'd like something pretty light and has been actually tested by other 12 guys on here...

About how many cold cranking amps does one need to fire up the 12 in warmer climates? Is there a minimum one should aim for so as to not hurt the charging system? Last think I'd want is a weaker bike while trying to make it lighter, lol!

A.

Hey dude why dont I build you a NiCad or Ni-MH pack??? I can give you what ever you need voltage wise and if we use RC cells no problems with starting and they can handle a 30A draw with out any problems... only issue is the cost, but I can help you a little there...
so if your interested give me a shout on my cell...
MM
we can do a 3300mAH battery very easily and it will weigh in about 1-1.5lbs... I have done some for a few Dragbikes...

No but it would be pretty easy to set up a system that you could pull your stock battery for LS and just plug in this one...
