Stock gearing is 18/46, good for 196 mph but if he is restricted (05) he is good for 186.

Either way, something is wrong. I suspect a 16 tooth front sprocket is the culprit. Could also be a 17 tooth up front but something is definately wrong! How is he verifying speed and is he 100% sure he was in 6th?!?!?

A.

Well shipteey, we took our bikes to germany today for a spin on the autobahn..... no speed limit there...... real fun.... you know i have a zx14 and we traded bikes. I had clear road and could let it run the 12r for a few minutes.. i know for sure i had 12500 rpm and 186 on the speedo..... have to say it was speedo mph and that was on my gps 167. think he is running a 16 or 18 sprocket or something... because the 12500 rpm

Well, if it wasn't restricted and it had an 18 tooth it would be right about mid 190s

for a 17 tooth low-mid 180s....

Hence why I think its a 16 tooth.

But since mine is a 2000 model, I don't know too much about the restrictions and whats needed to overcome them.
