Stock Clutch Question

I was wondering how much abuse my stock clutch can handle. I just went -1 tooth on the front sprocket, lowered it and got an extended swingarm. Other than that I am completely stock. I have been going to the local drag strip but haven't been real hard on my launch. Will it hold up if I feed it out from 6k? Advice would be greatly appreciated.

I guess you are saying 1 tooth SHorter on the front to a 17 ?

The clutch is the weak link for "Drag Racing" in the ZX12R. Ride it and enjoy it but Drag Race it spend the $500 for the Billet basket because the pretty parts (Stretched and lowered) will not mean much if you break the basket and pieces fly into the oil and mess up things

Thanks Vince. I will be getting the Muzzy ASAP. I am going to try and run with the stocker for a bit more. Hopefully it will hold up.

haha im in the same boat, (MTC basket on the way but still racing) one thing to think about is that slipping the clutch vs giving it a real jolt is easier on it, direct shock is harder than a more gradual strain. what kind of 60' times are u getting? how much power are u making?

Do you guys shift at all????
and if you do do you speed shift or use an air/electric shifter?
That is what causes these things to break.... or clutching up wheelies in 2nd or 3rd... will do it also...

i have been shifting manually so far....(air shifter on the way too) no clutch lever, just preload shift lever and let off the gas a tiny bit and it slides right into the next gear for me. im still not very quick so im not that hard on it, just had my first 9 sec run last wknd (9.94 @142)

My bike has been all stock till now. I just went down one tooth up front, lowered it and got the extensions. I plan on running this weekend. That is why I was asking about the clutch basket. I am going to be able to leave a lot harder with this set up. My 60' times have been around 1.78 completely stock. Next will be the basket, full system / PCIII and on and on. I am new at drag racing so the advice is always much appreciated.
