You didn't say what year the 12 is, but if it is an earlier year a Bonneville box will work very well and is cheap and easy to install. I know they work up to at least a 2002 12R but don't know about newer ones. You could check with Schnitz or Muzzy for that info if your bike is newer, or maybe someone else will post that info.

On a 2000 all you need is a pipe and map.

My 12R was a 2001 and it was restricted until I installed a bonneville box. Muzzys still sells them and they are $89.95 and install by tapping into 3 wires.

All zx12r's are restricted in some way or another via the ecu period.. check out hacking the planet and you will see..Only way to detristrict zx12r is via the ecu..

supra,

do you have a 00' 12? How fast have you gone on it (Verified)?

Your angle on 00's being "restricted" is boring and old. KHI designed the 12 to xxx.xx speed and no more. Then at the last minute (6+ weeks) they gave in to the agreement and put on the more restrictive canisters w/ mapping to match. The stock engine configuration allows the engine to operate in the TARGET 170 h.p. range w/o ram air.......uncorked. Most came up short after the can change at 152-160 h.p. Due to the can change, peak power comes in at a disapointing 10, 200 rpm instead of the TARGET 11,600 rpm.

I am not speculating here. I personally did all my testing back in 00'-01' w/ Cycle World Mag's. assistance.

With out ANY ECU mods, I gained 25 h.p. at 11,600 rpm with a Pipe and map. My top speed at 2,200 ft. went from 184 to 196 mph. (Radar and GPS verified).

01's and newer....different story.

agree with you on some premises.. however.. the ram air correction map goes to 12,349 but fuel and timing are cut at 11,719 how can you explain that.. will give more after work..

I agree with you on the exhaust . I have the dyno runs from K factory showing 176 rwhp with a different exhaust. 165 with the standard exhaust.. Its been a plan of mine for years to try a 2000 zx9r exhaust on the bike..
