trailer wood floor
My brother gave me his trailer which has a wood floor,no covering.Want some input on what I can use as a preservative so the wood doesn't rot.It is open to the elements and uv rays.I want to be careful that it doesn't get too greasy in the sun.thanx

I did mine with commercial wood floor enamel (it was new and fresh, though).

DM,this is a flatbed type trailer for hauling my bike.I would think enamel would be too slippery with the morning dew on it.does this enamel have a tendancy to peel?Do you think sand imbedded strips will stick to the enamel?

How about mixing some silica sand in with the enamel if you want a slip-proof finish.

AA if that wood floor is uncovered by a roof the best thing you can put on it is a product by Flood called "Spa-n-deck". It's a very tough (formulated for FL weather) hard shell varnish. It's a professional product that you Cannot get at H Depot or Lowes. Go to the Flood dealer locator here http://www.flood.com/flood/StoreLocator/StoreLocator.htm and call other dealers to see if they stock it or they can order it for you. Make sure you follow the directions, add some silica sand to it and do several coats.
If wood is exposed to the weather I would not use any paint on it as paint tends to allow moisture to condensate thru it and not allow it to escape cause wet/dry rott. I'm a General contractor and the only type of rotten wood that I see is painted wood!
Btw this product is probably the best deck stain sealer out there and will last 5-10 times longer than say Thompsons. I've been building decks for 25 years, if you all have and diy question about them just ask

I never thought of bed liner.Has anyone ever used it on wood?I was all set to go with Flood's spa and deck. Now I'll have to think about this.
Ozzy, I never did find anything other than a stock differential and I'm not keen on that. When it becomes a real issue,I might think about swapping something other than dodge as long as it has 3.73 ratio
