E85 Fuel

I was wondering if anybody has experimented with E85 fuel in a ZX12. I have read a few articles in Hot Rod mags where they compared running race fuel and E85 fuel. They had to use larger jets for the E85. On the dyno the E85 fuel made a little more HP and a good jump on torque over the race fuel especially in low and mid range RPM. Would you have to change fuel injectors to run E85 in a ZX12 or could you richen up the map enough for E85?

I'd asume that You mean E85 as in Europe that means it has fair amount of ethanol in it(85% if I remember right)? If so You should really add more fuel, but I doubt that it would make more power without some other mods. The E85 enables You to run higher compression ratio and so You could perhaps gain something if You mod Your engine. But You have to remember that the ZX:s fuelling system wasn't designed to withstand ethanol and so probably the fuel lines and seals won't hold it very long because they start to crack when there is a lot of ethanol. I wouldn't bother with it - there is much more effective and safer solutions... On cars that run E85 - specially turbocharged ones usually make more power with E85 than regular gas because it gives them a change to run higher boost - for example Saab makes cars like these. Also pollution limits pay a role here.

I figured there would be problems with the ethynol destroying seals and cause some corrosion issues. I agree that it would not be cost effective to set up a 12 for E85 but it would be interesting what kind of HP and Torque it would make.
