I'm expecting...

...lemme' see...so far on this trip , I've riddin a Falco, a Mille, a 916, and an RC-51...I'll try a TLR when I get home (going down the coast for two days from SF to SD )...I'll never sell my 12R, but I'd ALSO like to have a twin in my garage...I'm leaning towards a new 2001 Falco (on budget ) or a new 2001 Mille R (blow the budget...big time! )...who out there has these bikes and what can you tell me about them (pros/cons)?...the 916/998 are too small for me, but the Aprillas seem to fit nicely ergonomically (I'm 6'-1"/250lbs)...and they seem to put out decent torque especially down low coming out of the curves/turns...I'm in love ...bella!

I have owned both the RC51 and the Mille R. The Mille R is worth every penny. It is an awesome motorcycle and if you are a person that buys a bike and then spends money to improve it the Mille R is definitly the deal.

The Mille out performs the 51 in every way and it has all of the trick components etc. My best friend has a 996S and it is a beautiful bike but the Mille out runs it, out drags it, out turns it and frankly out stops it. After riding my Mille R he changed his gearing, his tires, ride height, steering damper settings etc. He could not believe how light and quick handling the Mille is for less dollars. I have ridden the Falco and it is a nice bike if you are into that type of a motorcycle.

I have spent over a hundred thousand dollars on the 51 besides buying the machine. Given that, the Mille still rings my bells and tugs at my heart.

My advice is if you want a twin, save your money and buy the Mille R. If you search around you can find a sweet deal on a new one. International Motorsports in Seattle was selling a left over 2001 for just under 14 the last time I was there. The R has $2500 wheels, $3000 forks, an $800 shock, a $400 steering dampner plus a hole shit wad of high performance parts from the standard Mille.

Twins rock!!
