Opinions of 105/103 Cam timing

Just got back from a 600 mile trip from San Francisco to Las Vegas Nevada. While my bike was down I put on a thin cometic head gasket, 105/103 adustable cam gears, and a bmc race filter. I am currently running an akrapovic full system, bonneville box, and extended rev limiter. and 4 degees of ignition advance

First of all the cam timing is incredible! The bike pulls hard from 4500rpm's all the way to the rev limiter. I haven't noticed any loss in power on the low end. I can still wheelie just as easily in 1st and 2nd gear. It feels as though the increased compression gave me back what I would have lost and then some..

I want to thank Y2K for helping me with the changes I made.. I haven't dynoed yet but Im expecting 190 plus on the dyno

p.s saw a zx14 in Las Vegas but he was going the opposite direction.. looking forward to a roll on with one, hopefully I go up against a good rider..

Not a problem. I enjoy helping people out with thier bikes and discussing the technical stuff.... Love a good technical debate.

Supra, are you stretched or slammed, if not I had a hard time NOT wheelieing in 1'st and 2'nd on a stock bike so I'm not sure that's a good indication.

What are you doing to get the extended rev limiter?

Y2k, I've also been following your build tread and agree it seems to have a wealth of knowledge in there.

my bike is lowered to the middle setting on the muzzy lowering link.. and a half an inch in the front.. Its pretty low...

the extende rev limit mod was done by Superbike Mike.. ( way to expensive) going to do it via the ecu later this year...

Oh that's the mod where they "screw up" the ecu's timing to fool it into thinking it's running a different / lower RPM than it actually is right? What are your impressions on that mod and if you like it are there others that can do it at a more reasonable price and that have a better reputatoin than superbike mike?

MLB, if it ever stops raining here i'll get the little basterd on the dyno and get it mapped nice and finish this project.
The first few weeks i had it on the road i was breaking it in. I wanted to get a few hundred miles on it before a long dyno session. Then the monsoon started 3 weeks ago. Looks like this weekend is going to be a washout agin also.

Mlb you are correct.. The injector pulse is shortened by 5 %. The rpm timing is increased to 105% and the ignition timing is pushed to 102&.. It is NOT a reprogramming mod.. However this ecu mod DOES perform better than the stock ecu. However I believe that it can run even better if I Can interface with it directly..
