Testing For Maxton

For the first time on over 1 year, since I started this project, The Bike did not run rich!!!

It was totally on the lean side but the way the chart looked was right. Back to the Bypass system to remove the lean spike and "CORRECT" Fuel jet with more pressure to make it rich. I may actually make Maxton next week Still a lot to do.

My latest question in my mind is the usage of a NOS Nozzle as opposed to the NX Nozzle that is about 1 inch shorter. The NX Only sits about 3/8 of an inch into the air stream as opposed to the NOS Nozzle which sits right about in the middle of the air stream. I had to modify the fittings to accept the NX Jets, but that is the question! The better spray pattern of the NX with 1 side against the Wall of the intake or the not a good pattern in the middle of the airstream!

Anyway, more testing on Tuesday

Resolved the question about the Back flow of fuel using the NOS Long nozzles and know I will not be using them!

THE WAY THE NOZZEL IS BUILT THE FUEL CHANNEL INTERSECTS WITH THE HOLE THAT HOLDS THE NITROUS STRAW, FLOWS AROUND THE BRASS TUBE THE NOS IS IN AND EXITS THE FUEL HOLE AT THE NOZZLE TIP. THERE IS A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW WITH THIS SYSTEM THAT I NEVER CAUGHT UNTIL NOW!! THE NOS BRASS STRAW MUST SEAL AT THE END OF THE FOGGER NOZZEL OR NITROUS CAN LEAK INTO THE FUEL SIDE OF THE FOGGER NOZZEL AND EITHER RESTRICT YOUR FUEL FLOW OR EVEN TOTALLY BLOCK IT OFF AS IN THE CASE OF THE NOZZLES JUST INSTALLED IN THE 565 ALL THE FUEL TO THE MOTOR WAS TOTALY BLOCKEDWHEN YOU ACTIVATED THE KIT AND THE MOTOR JUST DIED!

THE NEW FOGGER NOZZELS WERE LEAKING INTERNALY SO BAD THAT THEY STOPPED ALL THE FUEL FLOW! THE NITROUS WAS BACK FLOWING IN THE FUEL SYSTEM.THERE IS NO WAY TO DETECT THIS INTERNAL LEAK!! DAVID WAS LUCKY THAT ALL THE NOZZELS WERE FUCKED UP!! IF YOU JUST HAVE ONE NOZZLE WITH THE INTERNAL LEAK YOU WON'T KNOW IT UNTIL IT BURNS UP THAT PISTON!!

SOME OF YOU GUYS ARE HAVING NITROUS PROBLEMS OUT THERE RITE NOW WITH FOGGERS AND IT IS A FUCKED UP NOZZLE THAT IS DOING IT!! IF YOU HAVE EVER REMOVED YOUR JETS AND THE NOS SIDE HAS BACKED OUT ANY AT ALL BEFORE THE JET CAME LOOSE YOU HAVE JUST CREATED AN INTERNAL LEAK IN A FOGGER NOZZLE THAT IS GOING TO KILL A MOTOR!!

I HAVE BEEN HEARING SOME GUYS HAVE BEEN GETTING SOME BAD NOZZLES BUT UNTIL NOW I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON. NOS SOLD THEIR COMPANY TO HOLLEY A YEAR OR SO AGO AND THE WORD I HEAR 10,000 BAD FOGGER NOZZELS GOT OUT BEFORE THEY FOUND IT!!

Before I Understood this I first removed the tubes and fitted the NX Fitting so their Jets would work. Then I drilled out the fittings on the straws (As they called them) and still had problems and now I know why as seen above! I am learning a lot more than I ever wanted to

On the Dyno tonight, the following happened!

We had just turned down the fuel pressure to the lowest setting we had made so far 3 PSI and made the Best run so far at about 260 HP when it started running funny! We had run out of Gas (in the Tank) Can you imagine that! SInce I am at the Bottom edge of what I need to run I guess I will take this POS and have Randall ride it while I work on it and maybe gain another 30 or 40 HP then I will feel a LOT Better but still not the best It should be!

How can 1 engine using a #31 NOS Jet be rich on a #24 Fuel Jet at 3 PSI? My Bike can!! The Good news is, instead of seeing a Spike in HP and immediately go rich and the Power just drop to nothing, it is now jumping up abput 100 to 150 HP and "STAYING" at that HP Level until I let off the Button. I went from 7.25 to 1 A/F to about 10.5 to 1 A/F just before we ran out of fuel. I cannot imagine how well it would run if I could just get to 12 to 1 A/F!!

Just curious, but I can not remember, are you running pulsoids like Guy and Bossman were using? If I remember correctly the Nos Wiz from the land of tea and crumpets
had his stuff running low 3 PSI also.
Guess its always better to be too rich than too lean.

BAD NEWS! I was in an accident leaving town for Maxton! Traffic stopped I tried to stop almost made it then BAM from behind. Hit the SUV in front and did not damage to her but tore up the bumper real well and bent the rear bumper and knocked the bike lose and scratched the fairing nose (1 line about 2 inches long about 1/8 inch wide. I was just too tired and Pissed to go! Went home and spent an hour or so taking off the Hood and fixing the latch so I could get the hood open and closed. The "REAL" bumper and cover will need replacing and the grill area pulled out about 1/2 inch along with a new rear bumper and a little body work in the rear left. Happened at about 2 MPH for me front and about 4 MPH in the rear! God did not want me there! So more work and get the real HP and June!

Actually I plan to work on it tomorrow! I just had too many Irons in the same fire! Spent valuable time on my ZRX1100 and then the ZRX1100 I helped a friend get. I am more than a little up set and everything even if I was plain wore out, I felt the bike was going to run the numbers considering from 8 to 11,000 rpms it made a steady 260 HP being 10 to 1 RICH! I had planed to change the Jetting overnight and gain another 30 to 40 HP in the process which surely would not make it any SLOWER .

SO I will do the changes tomorrow and put it on the Dyno next week and see if I can pull a higher number for that rev range. It is one thing to PEAK 260 or 300, but to have that kind of power for 2 to 3000 RPMS that is usable power. I will not have the time to install the OD Gears which will allow the better starts off spray, but I really wanted to run it this weekend!

Old People just get WORE Out easier!

260hp is pretty good, but still nothing I've seen that is worth the trouble you've been through to get here, could accomplish the same result with a dry kit and been done years ago... I'm still waiting to see that 320rwhp mark, even then I'm not sure it would have been worth it? Time / money / hassle / etc. I guess if nothing else you're learning stuff you never really wanted to know about.

Bergie, when you are 100% right you are 100% right! I actually think I have figured it all out and "IF" I could believe what I was seeing, I could have been here about 6 to 8 months earlier. The #1 problem with me is "I HAVE TO DO IT MY WAY" I have found in life that it always takes longer to do something in a way no one else has, but when it works it is great, but when it does not work, THERE is only 1 person to blame.

The Low 300 HP is the Original Goal but over the summer and a few more changes to the Physical engine to make it stronger will allow me the Final goal of 350 HP that is fairly Stable!

BTW, what else can an Old Man do that can Consume this much brain and physical energy?

I love a Challenge, but even for me this is becoming Ridiculous!!
