camaro = redneck + no teeth eh? fuck you.

at least you can take your kids with you while you kick some yuppie corvette ass.

As far as the 12R goes, I'm OK with it - seeing how the 2000/2001 body style looks the best anyways

I am sitting here thinking what if the ZX-14 engine can be pumped up to say 1621cc and it will fit in a ZX-12R frame

I would have no problem taking the motor out of ZX-14 for a donor for my ZX-12R

You gonna spend $12k just to get the motor??? then another $2-3K to pump it up?

They will be folks that wad up the ZX-14 the same day they ride out of dealership. Their wont be much demand since nobody has one yet for salvage parts. They will be in salvage yards soon.

Jere It would be cheaper than a turbo and more reliable. 2500 for engine, 2500 to pump it up, 5000 grand the same price as a turbo. You would have a reliable 250 HP+ ZX-12R put a shot of NOS and possible 300HP

Outlaw, it's already extremely stroked. While potentially perhaps room has been left to stroke it further that would be starting to turn it into a tractor, and one ought to reduce rpm and make the gearing taller to go along with that, which largely erases the benefit.

(The fact that this motor is mostly only stroked vs the Twelve, rather than given much more piston area, is the main reason why it makes a reported only 7 hp more. If one builds to equal durability, stroking isn't all that one might intuitively expect, or expect from comparisons of motors that aren't equally durable, i.e., the stroker motor runs to higher piston speeds and accelerations and bearing loads.)

On the other hand, quite likely it can be bored further. i forget what I calculated, but if it were bored the same as a 1290 Twelve, that would wind up something like 1460 cc.

BTW, what's reportedly a good predictor on effect of bore and/or stroke changes on hp is, hp increases according to the 1.65 power of bore, and according to the 0.5 power of stroke (that is to say, the square root), all else being equal.

Just for fun, plugging that into the ZX-14 vs the ZX-12R:

84 mm vs 83 mm bore: worth a 2.0% increase (84/83 raised to the 1.65 power)
61 mm vs 55.4 mm stroke: worth a 4.9% increase (square root of 61/55.4)
Total effect, 7.0% predicted power increase from the nearly 12.8% displacement increase.

However, the reported crank hp is up by only about 4%.

The 3% lower value compared to what might have been predicted is probably due to tuning to obtain the monster low-end claimed for the motor -- what was it, something like 65 ft-lb at a mere 2000 rpm? I don' t know what the stock 12's value is down there but I would guess well under that, perhaps 50 or less.

just looking at the camaros driving around it's obvious there are 2 prerequisites for owning one.

I'd suspect this had more to do with where you live.

No mullet and I have all my teeth. Granted it's normally parked due to better mileage on the bike, an assload of hp with very little money spent on mods.
