I just installed the muzzys billet and descovered the same slop in the fitment. the split gear is housing the dampening springs and the basket and rear backing plate are welded together not rivited. welds are suggested for strength and peace of mind but the slop if only about 1/8" - 1/4" is normal and the clutch will rattle slightly until clutch lever is pulled or it is under load. the split gear assembly is designed to allow dampening or back torque elimination ie the gear will spin with the crank and the basket will lag behind slightly until the springs inside the gear are compressed and the baskets rivet spacers have hit their seats. if you look inside the gear where your basket rivets go through it there will be a curved oval port, this is where the basket will eventually contact the gear and begin to engage. I am not worried bout this because once the lock nut is torqued to 100 ft/lbs it will be secured. hope the info helps. My bike 'Death' is up and running again, San Antonio Raceway calls, with all the new parts i can't wait to race.
