Tire questions.....

It has been a while since I bought tires for my 2000 12R. (the begining of last riding season) I have used the Bridgestone 010's the last 3 sets and I like them a lot. I haven't kept up much lately. Is there a better tire now? Are the 010"s even still available? I have always used stock sizes (200 rear) I want to try a 190 rear this time for quicker turn-in and less bar effort. Has anyone tried a 180? Does this work? And last of all, where is the best/cheapest place to buy tires these days? Seems like I used to buy from Ron Ayers.com but I cannot find Bridgestone's on their site? Thanks for all your help!

there are lots of people tha trun a 180 adn 190 rears on the ZX12. They wouldnt run them if they didnt like them. I would suggest trying a 190 first and see the difference, adn them next time a 180 in the same type of tire, to comaper the differences. Persoanlly I ran a 190 on the back of my ZX12 and loved it. Right now my tire of choice is the Metzler M-1. Its a great all around tire. I got decent milage out of it, and decent traction as well.

I do however want to try a set of the Pilot Powers, I have heard good things about them as well..

I get most of my tires from parts411.com

or you can try kneedraggers.com

put an 014 on the rear of my bus recently...seems to be on par with the 010 (and that was a great tire)

180/190

I've been running 180s on the rear for a couple years and really like them. The downside is that the bike gets a bit nervous when banked over hard. Probably due to the 6" wheel width soft of flattening the tires profile. Anyway, I've been thinking about trying a 190 to see what it would do. Any of you guys ran 180s & 190s??? I know turn in is WAY better with a 180 versus the 200. I hate those damned 200s, they make you work entirely too hard in the twisties IMHO.

Yeah I am switching to a 190 rear. Chaparral screwed up my order but ion the end it's in my favor cause now I am getting the 014 Conbonation Set: A front and a 190 rear for $210 delivered. Sweet deal.

180/55 or 190/55.... works best for twisties.

The 50 profile is abit shorter and makes the bike feel slow.

I like the metzler M1 in a 190. You guys should try turning a 240 metzler now thats rough. I just got the track dynamics 240 kit all on lastnight.
