can't even feel a 2.5. need to hit somewhere in the 3s before you have any chance of feeling it IME. 4.something becomes quite noticable, but many will still sleep thru it (usually just a single large shake, feels like someone bumped your bed)

Yep; you won't even feel a 2.5 most of the time. I live 3 miles from a major fault here in the Bay Area, & we like to guess the strength every time we feel one. 3/4's are common (several times yearly), with occasional 5/6's.
You haven' t felt a real earthquake until you've felt something in the 6's or greater. I was in Candlestick during the World Series in SF in 89' during the 7.1 Loma Preita quake that did so much damage & killed 66 people (including my grandpa.) Not the strongest I've felt but almost (epicenter was 45 miles away.) That's a story I'll have to tell you guys someday...
In 83' I was standing within a mile of the Calavares Fault when they had a 6.9 (Livermore, CA) -now THAT was a hella quake. We heard it coming, we SAW it coming across the field for over a half-mile away (looked live waves on the ocean w/o whitewater coming across a freshly plowed field), & as we rocked & rolled we were astonished at the 35 seconds length & the STRENGTH of the rocking (knocked us to our hands & knees)...
Like riding the Ninja...gotta be felt to be believed... ____________
Enjoy the ride!

Since we're not used to earthquakes around this area, it was felt, even a 2.5!
It rattled my windows and over a Zacks house, a toothbrush holder vibrated off his sink and broke.
While I know it's nothing major, more like a sonic boom....it was felt.
