5" rim for a 12?
anyone know if there is a 5" rim that will fit on a 12? i have a line on a ZRX1100 rim but understand the offset is pretty odd. is there a wheel that will just bolt right on or am i looking at some spacers or other mods?

Why dont you just buy a ZX12 wheel?? They're like $150 all day long
No, I wouldnt bother trying any other wheel. THe ZX9 is the only one that would work as a substitute.

Why?? A 180mm tire fits fine on a 6" wheel.
I see no reason to do this... unless he is trying to get a cheap replacement wheel.

freek - contact Kosman Specialities. They can widen or narrow the wheel for you. That way you can pick-up a cheap ZX12 wheel and actually have it narrowed down to the correct size for the 150. I would think you'd need a 3.5 or 4.0" max width for a 150, while still having a decent profile wrap. Tell Sandy I said to give you the long deal.

thanks very much for the advise kerry! however, i'm not sure if it will be practical because of shipping (time & cost). i kinda need something i can pick up locally and soon.

that would need smaller than a 5in? it's a bias belt tire if that makes a difference. finding something that narrow is gonna be a problem i'm thinking. hell, doesnt the 12 have a 3.5in front?
on a more general note, can someone educate me as to how wheels are described? like for cars it's 17x8in rim with a 4x100mm bolt pattern and a 30mm offset. what are the numbers for bikes, and what does the 12 need?

Yea, I think a 5" rim would be pushing it on a 150... And yea, I believe most of the open class sportbikes have 3.5" front rims. The problem is how do you adapt it to the rear..... It would probably be more complex and costly than having Kosman do a mod.
Good question on the description of motorcycle wheels. I'm not sure the OEM's describe them like the car guys. In my humble opinion, I would think if you found a rear wheel of the correct rim width, like from a EX500 or something like that, I would be relatively easy to make up some spacers to get the offset correct. Then, you have to deal with the disc brake and if that offset is correct and/or the diameter. So you might have to make up another carrier for the caliper. For the sprocket side, it might be a little more complex.

damn, i was really hoping this would be relatively simple, like it would be for a car wheel i'm startin to think ur idea of kettin a 12 rim narrowed may be the way to go.
