Didn't say that. I just think there will be even more competitive teams this season than last. I also think Bayliss will do very well on the Honda.

I have no doubt the competiton will be stronger this year. Looks to be a real good season. Honda began giving the top level bike to most of its riders last year in an effort to stop Rossi. My pick? Proton makes a run for the title and wins..heh heh heh

With the new KTM engine the Proton was only a couple of tenths from Rossi's track record. AND they are with race tires at their qualifying times....on the first test. Chassis is rumored to be very good - achilles heel was the engine. Even with Rob Muzzy's help and F1 engineers they couldn't pull it out. KTM, however.....AND it's interesting now that Proton owns MVAgusta....Wonder if the Proton team will become the MV Agusta team? Wow.
I figure KR/Proton will be stronger on the money this year, and with Kawi getting stronger and Bridgestone getting better hopefully the racing will be closer this year. Hopefully Dunlop will get their tire shite together and help pull the KR along.
Now that Edwards is with Yammy Rossi has more development help. Edwards is a good rider - it will be interesting to see if HE helps Rossi with his development talents (Checa just used Rossi's settings - don't think he's a good development guy).
Also Honda is pulling out the stops with Biaggi as a factory rider (he's still kinda mercurial, though) and Sete.... Tamada will be a force to recon with as well.
Checa was faster than both Capirossi and Bayless on the Ducati. Don't think Bayliss is in the front runner talent pool.
I hope it will be a GOOD, CLOSE season for racing. Rossi moving over to Yammi made it exciting, but with real close racing....it'll be a spooge fest.
Now THIS is racing!

Yes......THIS is racing. I think the points will stay alot closer together this year, making it all that much more exciting. You said you thought Edwards is a good rider.........me too. But remember the INCREDIBLE battle between him and Bayliss for the Superbike Championship? I think Troy is as talented as the rest of the field ( being that they all seem to be a definete step behind Valentino ) and that the Honda will suit his riding style well. But we will have to wait and see.
I read about the great improvements the Proton team has made ( KTM Power BABY!!! ) and am really glad to see it. Kenny and Co. sure have hung in there.........a lot longer than most teams would have. ( witness Aprilia..........gonna pull out of Moto GP.....)

Biaggi, in my opinion, is too tempermental to ever win. He is supposed to be a real beyotch to work with and has a tendency to drive people away. I couldn't imagine too many people wanting to work with him for too long under those conditions.
Edwards has always been one of my favorite riders but he never seemed to get the support he deserved.
Proton remains a dark horse. If they can get their act together and actually assemble a bike that won't blow up with the drop of a hat, I see no reason they can't compete, rider notwithstanding.
From the interviews on Faster & Faster the Ducati bikes seem to be the most difficult of all the GP bikes to ride. However, it is still early in the renewed GP effort for the guys at Ducati. Give them time and I could see Ducati fielding a winning effort.
Honda will be the force in bikes. Yamaha will be the force in terms of rider. All others will scrap for the remaining spots.

It sounds promising that Proton said that they were only 0.2 second off Rossi, but they were saying year 2003. But on average everybody went 2-3 second faster this Year that last... And probably still couple faster nexth Year. So thats about Proton... Sad...

For what it is worth, they (Proton) have hung in there this long. I did not know they were quoting 2003 lap times.

Aprilia is out because they ran out of money. Bankruptcy will do that.
And the Cube is rumored to be the most difficult to ride. Edwards wanted off of that thing, bad. The throttle by wire was flakey - that's something you should really get RIGHT.
Even a couple of tenths is still way back in the grid. But I do hope that the racing is closer this year.

Aprilia is still running their 125 and 250 teams. Of course I'm sure the two stroke teams cost WAY less to operate than a Moto GP team
Does Kenny SR. and Co have more money than Aprilia? Or just a lot more determination?
My point was it seems to have been much harder and frustrating for Team Proton to field a team than anyone else and they are still at it. So I was just tipping my hat to them............

Fo shizzle! You have to hand it to Proton, though, for sticking with KR. They must really want a piece of the motorcycle market. Now that they have MV Agusta I'm sure it will help.
But yeah - definate props to KR's team. AND to.....WCM/HARRIS! Man, those guys are unreal, aren't they? I mean, I just don't understand what they are getting at racing in MotoGP. I can almost see Proton, but Harris?

Because it rained... I didn't want to slab Proton and hope that they can put the bike together and be competive, but it seems that they have a lot to do. Every racing needs also entry level teams... And I'll think that next Year in MotoGP will be even better than this one. I can't wait... And by the way Rossis best lap on Herez was on first qualifying (dry) and it was 1'40'812 and it is almost 2 second faster than the official lap record... And it was on first qualifying on the second race on Yamaha Rossi ever rode...

Well, Rossi already IS a legend in racing - and look how young he is.
Guy is unreal. Only thing left for him to do is get the most TOTAL championships in a row (with the distinction of back to back on different manufacturers), then go over to another series of racing (F1?) and go have fun over there.
