PC3R map questions
I recently added a PC3R to my 2000 ZX12R. I have a stepped Hindle pipe, K&N's, and Muzzy block off plates. Otherwise the engine is stock with 12,000 miles. I am probably going to get a custom map sometime this summer however I would like it to run as good as possible for now. A couple guys from this board were nice enough to email me maps for similar mods. However for one reason or another these maps and the 1 from DJ's web site have no ignition table numbers. I have no mechanical advancer. Should I be adding some advance? How much is safe? Should it all be the same amount? or should I ramp up the advance with the rpm's? and if so at what rate would be recomended? I assume that if you add advance for a certain rpm level that you need to make all the throttle positions at that rpm have the same advance? The only thing I am fairly certain of is that I won't add timing until 1000 rpm's so that it will start easily. I appreciate any advice from people who know about this.
Thanks!
Ted

simple choice would be 2.5 all over.
like many have done with the manual one.

yeah fish, I don't know why but I don't think ANY of their maps have timing.
I usually see a soft ramping up of the timing. You can go up to 5 with no problems.
At www.zx-12r.org (I think) there are some good maps, and some timing maps too.

I am running a mechanical advance on my 02 model bike of about 4.5 degrees. I run the PCII, so I had to do it that way....I spend months looking for a IIIR, adn they were back ordered so I went the the III. It works just fine for me. I f I were to do it again, I would prolly back it out just a bit to about 3.5-4 degrees. You cannot touch the throttle when trying to start my bike when warm, if you do it wont hardly roll over. Starts fine if you stay off the gas though, and starts every time, right away.
