Poll Question: Poll: DOT 4 or DOT 5 Brake Fluid
What does everyone run for brake fluid, DOT 4 or DOT 5?
Pro's and con's to either.
I have heard the DOT 5 handles heat a lot better, but tends to need to be replaced every riding season.
Poll Results:
8 votes (80%)
DOT 4
2 votes (20%)
DOT 5

I use the Silicon based brake fluid, it has a higher boiling rate to help it reduce fade on the track. And the petroleum based will eventually make the rubber seal swell in the mastercylinder....but it takes near forever to do....

I think I had read somewhere to not mix 4 and 5. If the bike calls for 4, put that in. You can get really good brake fluid that's still 4.

valvoline symth blend dot4
one finger will launch rear tire towards sky with oem rubber lines and oem pads....(on my ancient 600 anyway)
though any good-quality fluid with frequent changes will work for street riding.
the special stuff on track makes sense though
