I found another post by the 'Max owner:

" I fully understand. Its 6 & 0 right now for the idiots that screwed with the VMax . The latest casualty was a gxxr1000 with a kid on it that caught me sleeping. He came up from behind me all hunched over his bike and race ready.. As he passed me I was in 3rd gear and he wasn't, so I dropped to second (instead of first) and it kinda bogged. Meanwhile his gxxr1000 all pimped out was screaming real loud, and I had to play catch up. He had me by 3 links as I dropped the hammer and tried to stay with him. Max was taking care of business, because I'm old, w/slow relexes and he got the drop on me. I twisted the wrist, knowing Max would never let me down, and he gave me his all. That little guy was quick on the gxxr, but Max started to come on strong. The 3 links he had on me started to disappear, but this was not gonna be easy. Now the urgency was starting to show as I realised this could be my first loss. I tucked behind that windscreen, and said "Come on Max, this should be easy for you. Help me out Max", and he did. I shifted to 4th and the 3 links was still there. All of a sudden it was 2 links, and Max said "we can get him. Just hold on and keep it wide open". I did as Max instructed, and in seconds we were leaving him. Glancing down at the speedo, it was climbing ever so quickly. 120, 125, 130 and finally at 136 in 4th, Max said Buh Bye to the gxxr, and my sorry fat ass was saved by the Black Knight, known only as Bad VMax . Another one bites the dust, inspite of this old mans slows ass reflexes, and his over weight inability to move quick enough, and get the jump on this chump. Now it was Max ahead by 3 links and growing, when a traffic light appeared before us, turnng that menacing yellow, then finally red. I raised both my arms in the air, outstretched in victory, as I slowed to make the red light, no hands on bars. He was too embarrassed to even pull up next to me at the light & quickly got in the left lane & turned. "Whatsa matter? Max got your tounge?" Another 1 bites the dust, that I had wondered if it was salvageable at all. Thanks max, you ROCK! In Max we trust What a phukn RUSH! Adrenalyne to the MAX!

Score so far? 6 and 0, Maximum advantage

I would conclude that this Bad_Max is haveing an issue with reality and needs to seek professional attention.......

From Dec. Cycle World road test of a pre-production '09 Vmax:

Tank empty weight 676 lbs.
Tank full 701 lbs.

Corrected rear wheel dyno numbers (these match closely to a private test on the Star Vmax forum)
174.3 hp @ 9000 rpm
113 lb/ft @ 6600 rpm

0-30 mph 1.3 sec
0-60 mph 2.7 sec
0-100mph 5.9 sec
1/4 mile 10.26 @ 135.80

high/low/average gas mileage: 31/23/27
average range 107 miles

End of Cycle World info.

From reading the article my own opinion is it's too expensive, weights too much and it's a gas hog with a small tank. Too bad, one of my favorite bikes was a '85 Honda V-65 Sabre with a V-4 engine.

My 12 hits and blows past 120 and on to 140+ so fast I've got more important things to do then to track 1+ mph increases. You guys who race truly fast bikes know what I'm talking about. Mad_Max must be live in never never land, at least, that's where his story belongs

Embed this into that vmax forum. Tell them its from a 320 lb guy on near stock zx14.

Go to :35 on the vid to watch the speedo as I nail a couple gears- while leaned over, which meant I had to change gears easier than normal. REAL SPORT BIKES COUNT MPH GAINS BY THE DOUBLE DIGITS! Save that single digit crap for the cruiser crowd...

THE local YAM dealer dynoed his MAX 183 hp @118TQ the CYCLEWORLD bike was a preproduction model he DYNOED a new zx14 158hp@98tq and the BUSA 161hp@103tq B KING 151 hp@97tq all on the same day ???

I dynoed my stock 07 zx14 2 weekends ago on a stingy dyno at 166.57 HP. Less hp or not, the weight diffenence is going to be the killer lol.

Wet weight for the zx14 is 528
Wet weight for the Vmax is 701

701-528= 173 lbs

A good number to go by is that approximately every 8 lbs lost is the equivalent of adding 1 hp or for every 8 lbs added it's like taking 1 hp away. That's where HP to weight ratio comes in.

If the new max makes 183, it will have a HP/weight ratio of 3.83 lbs to every 1hp

My zx14 makes 166.57 which gives it a hp/ weight ratio of 3.16:1 lbs to every 1hp

Not a huge difference, but seeing how much harder it is to get a bike of that size going, plus the fact that it's going to be a spin monger with it's 66" wheelbase, it doesn't stand a chance. Bitchin bar hopping, noise making, smoke machine... not so good for anything else.

However, I do hear that bad max's talks to him lol... my 14 doesn't do that.

THE zx14 weighs 567 lbs wet and all the bikes were dynoed on the same dyno the same day as different dynos give different numbers the dealer who did the comparison sells KAWASAKI YAMAHA and SUZUKI and for every 11 pounds take 1hp away so 701-567=134lbs=12hp zx14 158hp=3.58lbs per hp but add a 200lb rider to each bike and you have the racing weight then you have zx14 4.85 to max 4.92 very close huh OH by the way we ran 8.22@166mph with a ZX14 no juice CARPENTER RACING

I think the numbers for your 14 are low. My stock A1 w/Akro and BMC race filters did 168.3 hp on a stingy dyno. A 1390 Busa same day, same dyno made 166 hp Same A1 now a 1361 makes 212 RWHP . If you do a search for dyno numbers, I think you'll see what I'm talking about. There were a lot of 12s w/after market exhaust/filters in the 170s and even 180s

WE didnt do the comparison the local dealer dynoed the bikes they were all 2009 models that were owned by him and as you know dynos vary we have seen the same numbers from zx12s the 14 were running is making 238 no juice and you can purchase the same package if your interested CARPENTER RACE ENGINES

Smokin, do you think this bike will be a Monster in the 1/8 mile or will the 14 still beat it, also, do you think there will be an after market for this bike and it will be easy to pick up 20-30 horsepower?
To run with a stock zx14 in the it would need to run 6.20s to 6.40s .....Yes it's possible with a good lite weight rider to match a STOCK zx14 in the 1/8 mile ... But who owns a stock zx14 ? You will be able to get a pipe and p/c but pick up 20 to 30 HP NO way !!! This bike is for 40s to 50s year old guys ( like Me ) that had a Vmax years ago and want to relive the HOT ROD Vmax days .. As a drag bike it will not be able to match the zx14 or busa ....The new Vmax is what it is , A big bruiser , hot rod , muscle bike that will do block long smokey burn outs and make cool sounds while doing it ... I think it will be a fun bike on the street and not so fun on the track ...

Amen! Anything else is not what the Max was intedned for....its for us old guys who like big heavy muscle bound beasts (like the 74 440 6 pack Road Runner I owned back in the day ) This is not going to be competition for any of the power or hyper sport bikes out there, don't think Yammy intended that anyways. I've always loved the Max, will someday own one, but methinks I'll buy an older model and tweak it...this one looks to swoopy and errrr girly....
