New Here

I was never a huge fan of the VMax, of course I never did have the opportunity to ride the original.

But last Sunday I got to ride the new one at the Long Beach show, and wow, I am a fan. I never thought I would ride a bike that accelerates like my R1, at 10000 RPM, but it's only turning 3000 rpm. That bike flat out halls A$$. It damn near ripped the bars out of my hands the first time I got on it in 1st gear; I think I'm actually suffering from a little whip lash. The bike is completely user friendly until you snap it to WOT. It's relatively comfortable, a lot more so then my R1, but for me I would need some flatter bars that would pull me forward just a bit. And the seat, I'd like something I could move a little in; although, maybe that is the point of this seat design, to make sure you don't fly off the back of the bike!

Anyway, I am now a fan, and I'm even contimplating trading in my 04 R1 and 99 Buell X1 Carbon Fiber Extreme. But one concern I have is that I am reading that you'll be lucky to get 100 miles on the 3.9 gallon tank. And I wonder that if you are trying to be good and take a longer ride if you couldn't push between 120 and 160 miles on that tank. If I'm nice I can push 140 miles on my R1, and I'm more then ready to stop by then anyway!
