Appreciate the power....
I picked up a new ride, an f800 gs dual sport. I rode the new bike for a week or so exclusively ...you know a new toy and all. I had a rip! Then I took the conny out to play. Interesting. The conny felt porky...but man oh man, once things got going she felt like a beast. Glad I didn't get on a 14 after a week on the3 beemer....you appreciate the power !!

I love the power of the C14, it is great for a sport tourer, it ain't a zx10 or a zx14 but it has it's merits.
Felt porky? Well to be frank it is porky. But good tires and the right pressure minimizes that dramatically.

Oncours, I think ted already has the flies out.
I agree, it is a pig, but feels very nible consider considering how big it really is.

...I've only managed a test ride on the C14 and I really liked it...but do tell me more about the F800GS...is it all that and a bowl of cereal?...I have a KLR650 that I dink around on, but I'm going to guess the GS would feel like its very stout German big brother....

Ted, take it from all of us posters who did it, it is a huge improvement! I am not saying the mapping is perfect from FM, as I do have problems (rare) on hot days, where you could get a hesitation after a long off throttle downhill when you get back on the gas, or taking off after sitting at a light for a while.
Overall it is kick ass, no rubber band feeling to the throttle, instantanious (the way fuel injection should be) acceleration. Night and day.... Makes her feel "RIGHT"..
I was initally dissaponted by how my connie felt as far as power delivery goes, but this made me a true believer, it is the best upgrade you can do, and unleashes the beast within that Kawi thought you would kill yourself with. Totally worth the $$, ask anyone...
Reguards,
Rob

Here is the deal with me, since a young age I worked in motorcycle shops and as a result I rode literally thousands of bikes. I adapt easily to most everything. Another thing is I grew up on 2 strokes that had narrow powerbands, so it is quite easy for me to ride a bike at high RPM where it makes power. When I dial it up, I go right to where it makes power and get the best engine braking. When puttering down the highway and need to accelerate, I just downshift till I am in the power by habit, and even though there would be more power without the flies, I am not sure I would even use it. I can't see myself changing my riding style.

Well, If you lived close by I would certainly let you take mine for a ride...
I see what your saying, my feeling is that I love torque, a 1400 should have tons of it and now it does. I never opened this thing up yet, the last time I rode was sept. and just got my 1000 miles in when we had the snowstorm and they salted the crap out of the road, my season was ended early...
You should gain 10-15 rwhp on top if you did the mod, maybe that might be worth it to you??
I just find it a lot easier to get going quickly without having to dial up high rpm's to do so, and the throttle response is very quick. Even passing in 5th or od is helped by it.
I am sure some member by you would at least let you take a ride on theirs...

Rob

From what I understand (FBA knows) that the mod does not do much of anything on top. Much better results on top with a pipe.

TedG is right. Sort of
Here are my dyno runs from last year.
I rode up to fuel moto with the areap pipe already installed, flies in. The weakest run is with the flies in, base map (no tuning). Next run is with the flies in, but custom tune. Final run is flies out, custom tune.

Gpz, There was no bone stock run included. The "bone stock" run listed on fm's website was 134.12 max hp, and 90.70 ft. lbs torque. Compare that to your 150, and 99 and we are talking gains of about 16 hp, and 9 ft. lbs, and the max hp gain is at 9k.
I really feel the difference the way I ride, you know shifting at 5k and with the mods done it really woke her up. I don't like to use the revs unless I have to, I love the big block feeling.

Rob

Rob, no way to include a bone stock run. I rode the bike out there with the pipe and pc3 installed already. However, the mapping in the pc3 was all 0's, so no fuel trim modification.
For me, the important gains were in the low end, not the top end. Gained nearly 15 ft lb torque around 3K rpm. Most of my riding is between 3-5K. This may change this season as I explore cornering in the more midrange range (4-7K).

Same for me, I love what it does there (3-6k) and the response it now has.
Most stocker dynos I saw were in the 133-137 range, and I did see where the pipe
helped the most along with proper fuel trim. I think Ted is bone stock, but am unsure.
Thank you again for donating your bike for research, I probably have your map in mine!
So, to each their own riding habits, where I do most of my riding is in the same range as you and it is a great improvement over stock. My only difference is the pipe, FM did say
that the area p makes 1-2 hp more, but I liked the looks of the 2 bro's better....
Reguards,
Rob
