Only color change and redesigned rear brake pedal. Only reason I'm saying rear brake pedal is because the 08's have a recall on this and the 09's don't.

The brake lever on the '08s is not a recall. The '09s have o2 sensors.

Well I can honestly say I have recieved NO info on this subject. My bike was recalled for the rear rack and side bag latches. Maybe it is a silent recall, one where only if you have problems they will fix it for nothing.

Here's a real one that never got attention, my 2000 busa, which had the recall for the cam chain tensioner, had a more serious problem. I was changing my oil in my living room when the fuel line came off of the fuel tank, I heard this running water sound and while smoking a cig, finally realized it was gas. All over the floor in front of me. Here they put the wrong sized hose clamp on the fuel outlet!! I was not the only one either, there were instances of it coming off on a dyno as well. I wrote the whole thing to the national transportation safety board as well as others, and nothing was done about it.... Imagine gas spewing out and 1 spark....

The brake pedal getting a rock in it is basically 1 in a million, only JC had it happen as far as I know and I have not recieved any notification from kawi about it, has anyone else got a notification from them???

Sometimes info isn't received, you have to know where to look for it. Kawasaki hasn't figured out a plan yet of how to fix the issue so until then, no official notice to owners.

I lived in a 1 br townhouse, I did not want to change the oil on the sidewalk, just an oil change turned into hell...

It would have been suzukis fault, changing oil should not cause a building to burn down or blow up. I was not the only one this happened to, but since nobody got killed or had a tragedy evidently the national highway safety board chose to ignore the issue.... A serious one at that! What gets me is they will recall a bike for a brake lever that gets a one in a million stone in it, but not one for a gas hose coming off unexpectedly.... Go figure...

A little more info on the differences.
I don't believe there is an o2 sensor, I just cleaned my 09 exhaust and there is no o2 sensor to be found.
The glove box seems sturdier and is now held in with machine screws into a metal bracket.
The seat had some foam on the bottom.
The brake pedal is identical, the recall had to be done on mine and it is nothing more than a metal cover.

Ted, there is a post where one of our members installed a full muzzy exhaust on a '09, here is the timeframe " posted October 27, 2008 01:14 AM" look it up. As far as I can say, the '09 usa models were going to have them like the rest of the world did in '08. In the service manual there is a page or so dedicated to 02 sensors, depending on which manual you have.

Well the deal is, I can see where they would weld in the bung for the sensor and there is nothing there. Maybe they were working on a European model. And I checked the parts book and there is nothing there.

I guess your right Ted, I remember reading all there was to read about the '08, where it said us spec was not going to have the sensor, but that in '09 it was going to be on the bike. I guess they didn't decide to do it...

Maybe the O2 for the 09 US model is a running change ????? You know ... they need to use up the inventory.

So after a couple of thousand miles I have come to the conclusion that the 09 feels stronger in the midrange and off the bottom. As it breaks in it is getting smoother. Other than that It is the same bike.

Ted, It is only because of all the friction you had in the 08, I had mine out of the garage yesterday for 45 min's, started right up! Has more throttle response than any bike I ever had (I did not ride it). She wants to go, 1008 miles and the first time I really get to ride her this year I am whacking the throttle open. (god knows what will happen, just hope I do not loop it).

You won't loop it. It will wheelie but it ain't coming over. I wish it would throttle wheelie at this altitude but you have to be below 2500 feet before it will. That is why I love the ZX10 so much, there is no replacement for 100 mph wheelies. I put 33,000 on the 08 and I know what if felt like. The 09 is stronger in the mid range, it almost feels like they remapped the secondary flies ever so slightly. Like someone said before.

Ted, I know someone said on here you could loop it. I am 800 ft and with the pc3 and flies out it is a way different beast alltogether. I mean I am good with wheelies, had many a kx500 (and getting another soon) and never flipped one, came damn close at around 70 in top gear on the street, I just hit her hard (no clutch) bike came straight up with no time to react, feet off pegs just me and the bars. I managed to chop the throttle and pull myself back on. Once stopped I had to take a 10 min break as that was scary! Now a streetbike 4 cyl 2 stroke 2000 cc bike, that's what dreams are made of! I saw one on the net somewhere, 4 kx500 motors joined by a custom cases and crank, I can only imagine what 5 mpg could do....

Funny, my 09 has the exact same heat/buffeting issues as my 08 did. Maybe your 90 is an 010...
