Oil and Filters
I know this is a beaten up issue on the bike forums, but I didn't see much along these lines for the C14.
I'm curious to know what you all are using in the way of oil and filters and most importantly why you are using what you're using. I've always been of the school of thought that if you use the correct viscosity and a filter for this application and change it regularly, you'll be fine. I'm not racing, but I'd like to get the most performance for my money and protect my investment.
I've heard that amsoil 10W-40 works well and also lowers the engine operating temperature which would be welcome. Also, what filter Part numbers are you using too.
Thanks! Ride safe.

I don't think you can beat the stock oil filter, and that is what I am going to stick with. It has a great antidrainback valve, after 2 weeks of sitting, 1 revolution of the engine puts the oil light out!
When I get enough miles on it I am going to use amsoil in it. That's going to be an expensive oil cange!

Oh God it’s come to this? I’m involved in another oil thread….worm needs a life.
I’ve been using the Amsoil 10/40 and I’m happy with it. Meaning it gets good marks and my engine has not seized. When I run out of it I’m going to try some Rotella synthetic cj-4. I’ve heard it’s great for bikes and is way cheap. I’m running it in my track bike now and it seems to be holding up just fine even with me constantly bouncing it off the rev limiter.
I use the Purolator PL14610 or PL 14612 PureONE (the longer one) and will until somebody makes a better one. It has the best filtration rating and costs about 6 bucks.
Still I think with today’s lubricants that with regular changes of most any brand that’s not “energy conserving” and a better than Fram filter we’ll never see an oil related failure or premature wear.

I'm going to switch to Rotella-T (WalMart) synthetic after break-in, heard good things about that oil. I'll probably stick with the OEM filter for now, but the Purolator has good reviews as well.

I have been using the Rotella T since 6K (I now have over 16K). I LOVE the way the bike shifts since I replaced it. It is cheap and VERY good. I do however change it after 3K religiously.
