I like my Concours14 but.......
I really like my Concours14 but I'm on my 2nd warranty issue. This is my 10th new bike to own and all 9 of my previous new bikes had a total of ZERO warranty issues. I sure hope this isn't a sign of more to come.
1st warranty issue -- rear tire low air pressure battery defective
2nd warranty issue -- sometimes when I turn the bike on the digital dash is faded. Even different parts of it are dimmer then others. My dealer has a call into Kawasaki checking on it.

I think with most first year issue models there will always be little things. The more sophisticated they make these bikes, the more apt they are to have issues. Just my .02

Digital dash fade could be from extreme heat if you leave the bike out in the sun for extended amounts of time. I saw one do that once, when the bike cooled off things returned to normal. Doesnt make sense that you can ride all day and no problem. I guess because things are cooler riding down the highway versus setting in direct sunlight. My serius radio does this when left on the dash in the sun. Who knows for sure.

If my bike is sitting in the sun too long, the LCD will be faded as well. It will return to normal contrast after a while though. Still, from what you typed, it sounds like something different altogether.

The fading is a common problem with LCD displays in most everything. When they get hot they will fade and come back when they cool. Nature of the beast.

Has anyone nocited that the tire pressure on the dash panel is a couple of PSI off what you see on the gas stations pressure gauges? It's not a big deal, as I know that "40psi" really mean 42, but just something I noticed...

Well...I have the cracked right mirror plastics issue, the two-hands-to-open-the-glovebox issue,..had my switch fail keeping the key stuck in all the time (they changed the entire switch)
As far as the TPS gauge being off...mine is bang on with three different gauges that I use. Make sure you only measure TP cold...and not after you've ridden the bike. Once you have done that, ride the bike for 30 seconds and see what the gauge says then. The TPS can be used as a relative measure if they're not spot on with your other gauges...but they should be right on.

I always cover my dash with a towel I keep in the tank box while parked. I do this to keep the windshield from branding the plastics any more than they already are.
Just this week for the first time I forgot to put the towel over the dash. When I started the bike after work the dash was extremely faded. This was definitely from the heat of the sun on the panel, since it never happened before and the dash cam back to normal after a few miles of riding.
It is not something a new dash is going to fix, it is a property of the LCD panel (same thing happens to digital watches, calculators, etc).

I've had my bike for a month now. I had to have the tire pressure sensor battery replaced. Also I had a dead battery problem. The dealer told me that I am not riding the bike enough. It sat for 1 week and the battery was dead to the point where it would not even jump it (it would start, but would not run without the jumper cable). The dealer recharged the battery and said there was no problem beyond that. They also said that because of the electronics on the bike, battery drain happens quickly when the bike is not being ridden. They suggested riding the bike at least 2-3x per week. I typically ride on weekends. This just doesn't sound right to me. Any suggestions?

Tell your dealer he is full of shit and doesn't understand electronics. Please be more gentle than that. I can easily let mine sit for a month and it will start right up. 99 times out of 100 it is the battery, the terminals need to be clean and tight. This system has a heavy drain for a short while then it goes into a low current mode that can go on for weeks if not months. That is if the battery is in good shape. Batterys need to be charged right after the acid is put in them, if they filled the electrolytes and just let the battery discharge it can hurt the battery and some never recover. You may be able to trickle charge it and it may come back. Sometimes a heavy surface charge then a trickle charge will help.
Ask your dealer if he used a load tester on the battery. If they still insist on their bullshit call Kawasaki customer service.

+1, with Ted on this. Tell butthead to check the battery cables...they were probably loose, morons. "ride it 2-3X/week"....LOL What dipshits!
Average current drain on this bike is well under 1ma...which is enough to let the bike site for 3-5 months without starting it...easily, and I do that every winter. My bikes never see a charger or a start from Dec-March. Your dealer is a butthead.

either, like said above, the connections are loose or corroded or the alternator is not charging. If it's running, even on a jumper from a non running vehicle, or stand alone battery, switch your display to battery volts and what does it read? Should be 14v plus..

Strange thing is, I have exactly the same 2 issues.
Just bought my Connie last week and after the test ride I told the dealership that the rear tire pressure reading was all blanks "- - -", and the sensor must not be working or have lost battery power. Said they'd fix it, but of course riding yesterday I see that it's not fixed.
I also have experienced LCD fade out, but it's definitely a temperature issue. It was 102 degrees here in Dallas yesterday, and my LCD was fading out to almost unreadable after I had parked the bike. It came back though, once back in motion.

Yeah, I'm with ted and steve on the battery issue. Sounds like horseshit to me. My battery was dead on the showroom floor. When I purchased the bike, the dealer put in a new one. No problems since.
Like many of you said, I'm also seeing the digital readout fade at times, but certainly seems like a heat issue.
