You know what the next step manufacturers are going to use on the FI system is...
Drive by wire, been on many cars now for a while, no throttle cable. With that in place maybe even add traction control since it would be easy to incorporate into the dbw. With
that in place they can forget about the secondary flies, and only let the primaries open as much as they want to for any given gear and any rate they wish.

For some reason auto technology trickles down to bikes, not bikes to cars. Connie was the first ever to bring VVT, that has been on cars for a decade or more! You would have thought honda would have been the first in that area with their v-tec, nope... The future of you being able to do what the older bikes did, as in direct control will slowly erode away into something even more harder to defeat, only the manufacturer seems to know what the riders need, keeping safety in mind.
Off to put the 2 bros exhaust on...

Drive by wire -- already in use on the 2007 and up HD's (FLH models). Works very well indeed too!

Really? HD was the first?? Now I am stunned.... Just realize that they can program the setup to whatever they like. We have gm's that if you floored it at idle will not go over 2k rpm..

Did you remove your cat's Steve?

I have a full system from Brock -- so yes, there are no cat's.

The HD's have a slick feature as well, that permits you to run the bike on one cylinder while in traffic, thus reducing engine heat, and it's all activated by a simple throttle sequence.

I think it was somewhere in one of the rewiews that they said the cats were in the muffler. I kinda believed it, but looking at those cylinders at the rear of the collector made me curious. When I got the boat anchor off I got the flashlight out and peeked up there, and there they were.... I was ready to get the hammerdrill out and the shopvac, but it just might wait.
I wander where harley got the technology from???
Did you ever redyno it after the full system? Just curious as it doesn't mention about power or the full system in your signature.

I will finally agree that removing the flies is probably easier than anything, but it is defeatable... I will live with her the way she is for a while..

One last thing I wanted to mention, I went to Brock's and there is no listing for the C-14 at all, Did you get a 1 off?

No, I got an AreaP slip-on. I didn't Dyno it after the mod, but others have @150+ and 95+ TQ. I hate Dyno's, but my SOP Dyno tells me she's fucking fast and pulls like a bat outta hell with the flies out...so much so, that she pops up as high as I want her to at 3500 in 1st with a simple twist of the wrist, and I'm 6'2" @220 lbs. You'd be hard pressed to lift a ZX10 in1st at 3500 without clutching it up...but this bike, no sweat! So, you can just imagine the power/TQ there to lift an 900+ LB bike/rider combo like that...

Flies have to go!

On my 2nd set of peg feelers now...

Here's the bike --

Ok, anyone have a used complete tb unit to sell cheap? I looked on ebay and found a zx-14 unit for $250, but no councours.

THIS is a question I have:

Since it has been demonstrated additional airflow is a good thing for the C-14-- why NOT substitute the larger bore (but similar design) ZX-14 TBs ?

Anyone know if it's even possible?

Steve, you said up above that you have the Brock gen 3 full system so that means you don't have the cats in, I assume now you mean the ZX-14 not the C14 which still has them in since I cannot find a full system for the C14 on their site... You gonna remove the corks?

With the cats out the exhaust should run much cooler as well, more torque? remap?

I don't know that the tb's from the zx-14 would work. I do not know if they would even bolt up, or if they would match the ports in the head, and it is possible the airbox wouldn't fit on them. Even then you still have to deal with the secondary flies. Possibly the stepper motor and sensor wiring and configuration would not be compatible.

Damn, I forgot I was posting on the C14 section, not the ZX14...LOL.

I have the Gen III on my ZX, so no cats...
My C14 has an Area P slip-on with cats...sorry man.
From what I've heard, the cat's out solution on a C offers little to no gain...not worth the effort.
The C14 slip on runs hotter than the Gen III, yes.
Won't bother trying to change the T/B's on the C14, because I don't need the performance on that bike to the same degree as I want on the ZX. It has plenty of power/TQ for its use and the gain would not be that much in any case. The VVT on the C14 makes up for the smaller T/B's in any case. If I want to go more power on the C, I'll install a T/C.

FBA, How can I get a copy of the map you use? I am planning on doing the leap on my b-day later this month. The only difference, which is minor is the exhaust slip on's we use and should not be a factor.

I really want the torque, I know there is more. Even on my little klr (still get's 70 mpg) the reworking of the carb brought the bike to life, with the addition of a full system. I can take off now, short shift ,and do what I used to have to nail the crap out of the throttle to gain speed, night and day.... I want the same for the c14. I want what Kawi decided I don't want, effortless and immediate lower end power, really put's the little bikes to shame. I was and still am a big engine fan, bigger is more torque no matter how you put it. Putting the mighty snail on it increases displacement giving the same effect, but i think just the flies will do....

Thanks,
Rob
