Rider pegs too low...

I have little left of my peg feelers on the bike, because they're all scraped down now. Does anyone make an adjustable rearset that would bring them up higher?

Ted, been riding this puppy all week long now...wheelies in 1st at 3500 are a snap (on command), in fact, much easier than at 8k...because of the engine characteristics. I've noticed that the compression on decel is harder in the lower revs than in the higher revs...and I'm guessing that's to do with the VVT and the cam timing. I can loft and carry the front starting at under 3500 and stay on it for quite some time...so if you wanna wheelie this puppy, chop the throttle at 3500 (flies out). I weigh 220 suited BTW, so this bike has power, all the power you'd ever need, with the flies out of course.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. You have convinced me, but that fuckin PC is the only sticking point.. You have heard my story. I will break down and do it. I want to do two extra quiet cans from Kerry, and just make a split pipe. That is the good part about having a TIG in my garage and if I need assistance one of my best friends is a world famous Hot Rod builder that after riding my C14 is hooked and is going to buy one. He hates the exhaust. I think it would look great with two triangular cans.

Oh yeah, hang off a bit more, and countersteer to get the lean started, go neutral on the bars the instant is starts to lean then pull hard on the inside bar as you accelerate. That should put an end to the scraping. Oh yeah, pulling on that bar is like leaning into a left hook, but it will stand that prick up. This thing responds well to that. But you probably already know this.

Ted, ya got me pal -- the laws of physics dictate that no matter which way I lean, when I get down to a point, the pegs will drag. I hear what you're saying, about leaning less to get the bike to corner at the same speeds, but when I'm down on the beads, the pegs will drag no matter what. They are lower than the ZX14, 4 sure and understandably so; it's an ST bike, not an SS, so ya, I get it. I'd still like to be able to get it down low without buying new peg feelers all the time -- don't wanna look like a poser in the corners

My ZX14 goes down to the fairing without whacking the pegs

Ok -- at least the C14 doesn't drag the fairings...pegs are in the way.

BTW, fuck the PC3 issues; it works -- and the grin factor (flies out) will hurt your facial muscles, if ya know what I mean.

If it fails on a trip, pull it out; takes only a few minutes and chances are that it won't fail anyway.

Repeat after me -- "LOW SPEED POWER WHEELIES ON DEMAND"

Fish -- You're what -- like 6'4" tall? Maybe that's why they're high for you -- I'm short -- only 6'2", so they're low for me

"Does anyone make an adjustable rearset that would bring them up higher?'

If VORTEX doesn't, they will if they detect even the slightest demand. I remember my litre bike friends looking at the ZX14 and say "you'll never get real rear sets for that bike" and now VORTEX are commonplace on it.

Actually you can maintain your corner speed and actually keep more weight on the tire if you do like I say. The big mistake most people make is they countersteer too much and continue through the corner. Counter steering makes the bike lean much more. I only counter steer to get the lean started, then use my body weight to keep the law of physics in check. Going neutral on the bars will keep you more upright. Then start pulling on the inside bar and pushing one the outside bar and the bike will stand up, be on the gas. and you can add mph to your corner speed and no peg dragging.

I know the technique well, but that only works up to a certain point Ted...and ya still end up looking like a poser I see my buddies trying to hang off the bike all the time...and I laugh hard. Guess that's why my riding instructor/race buddy rides a GS...no way to drag those pegs. His only problem is dragging the bags:P

What exactly makes one look like a poser when riding this bike? Are you saying that if you don't drag the pegs and/or your knee you're a poser... or is it if someone is trying to do a hard lean and isn't doing it right? I have been riding for a little less than two years. This is my sixth motorcycle. I really enjoy riding it, but when on the twisties I'm definitely not a knee dragger... I don't even try it. I ride fairly aggressive, but I just don't have the nerve or perhaps don't really trust the bike enough to stay glued to the road to try leaning hard yet. The chicken strips are very small on my tires so I probably lean more than I realize, but definitely don't scrape the pegs.

You misunderstood my comment. Looking like a poser, is something (IMO) that happens when you're hangin' hard off the seat, as if you were on the track, when in fact, you're not. I'm NOT saying that if you don't drag the pegs, that you'd look like a poser -- many riders ride hard and don't in fact drag pegs or knees, but they can wipe yer ass in turns in a heartbeat. I know of a few riders like that myself -- having been riding on and off the track for over 35 years. Personally, in the streets, I prefer leaning (counter-steering) more than hanging off. On the track, I'll use both together, depending on the turn and turn speed. The C14 can be leaned very hard in corners with very little wobble, under the right control; it's limitation is more the rider than the bike, for the most part. Few riders can out-ride the C14.

Dragging knees in the streets can be quite exhilarating, but also quite dangerous. I do it rarely (in the streets) but all the time when on the track. BTW, the idea isn't to actually "drag" one's knees, but to use them as "feelers" or sensors only as an indicator of lean angle. Scraping knees isn't to ones advantage on the track and you don't have to scrape pegs to enjoy riding this bike; it so happens that I like to lean the bike hard, to the point where there are no "chicken strips" on either the back or front tire, not to eradicate the chicken strips, but because I just like to corner hard and fast -- any idiot can nail it WOT on the straights -- but rider skills are forever demonstrated in the corners. Races are always about corners, not straights.

Very true.... one day I might have the skills to really test this bike in the twisties, but it's a blast to ride regardless of how close you push it to the limits.
