"ICS" TRUNK

That would be the royal order of "International Cheap Scumbags".
Well anyway I bought one of these:http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ItemBrowse/c-10101/s-10101/p-100000346517/mediaCode-ZX/appId-100000346517/Pr-p_CATENTRY_ID:100000346517

Got the JCW Trunk and found to be quite sturdy, right up there with the Givi's I've seen. Painted it with two coats of Krylon Fusion Black Satin paint (one can).

I used some Aluminum for the backing plate and four 5/16 - 18 X 1-1/2" Elevator bolts through the stock rack slots.

These bolts are low profile and have tapered squares like a Carriage bolt so they stay in the drilled holes allowing you to bolt the stock rack down.

After a few days for paint curing I loaded the Trunk and put a few hundred miles of varied riding on it. Worked grand and stayed put up to 125 mph. Not so chess after all, especially for $85.

I plan on painting the Aluminum plate and Bolt heads flat black this Winter, cut the bolts down and cap them.

Ahhh -- much better. Worked out very nicely too. Did you have to use the plate underneath or could you get away with a few large washers?

I've heard of guys cracking the stock Rack so I thought I'd spread the load out.

Very nice, a little big for me, I want something lower profile and just enough for a spare shield and a bit more.

Hey Tom, did you pluck out their insignia from the top of the case lid? Co-worker bought the same case for his 06 Connie and popped it right out.

Maybe the Medium size might be the ticket Ted, mines just for trippin'. Givi makes some small scooter trunks too.

I kinda like the Iron Cross, after the paint fully cures I'm sticking it back on. It's just adhesive on the back and covers the injection mold port.

Looking good. I caught them on 1/2 price sale with the mount plate thrown in and bought 2 to get the free shipping. Thought it would look good with the flaming orange painted over. Thanks for posting, I will be following your lead.....TB
