Ted, Well? Got it on yet? Like it?
FYI I set mine up a couple different ways and like it best with lots of off in the adjustment range. But to each his own.

Well worm, I finally got a chance to install the thing tonight. I had to get another set of Gel grips because I had shortened the others to allow for the other throttle lock. I have to say this is a very clean setup. It worked out with no shims and it lets it loose completely, and seems to lock it completely. Although it looks like I have to twist it alot from full open to get it to lock. But It looks like it is just a matter of getting used to the thing. I will try it tomorrow.

Ted, what model # Gel grip did you use and did it fit right with no trimming or moving the switchgear inboard? I've also been considering Grip Puppies for a little extra diameter.

They are the Pro Grip 714. You only have to cut off the end, it has a groove that you cut so the grip looks perfect.. They are the right length. they have a built in spacer that you cut off if it is too long. These have a bigger diameter, they bulge slightly in the middle. I had green ones on my ZX12 and really liked them. I have big hands. So all that means I have a very clean looking setup now. Everything looks factory with no gaps.

Worm, I recently got the progrip 717 from DK. They feel much better than the stock, and my hands don't slip as much. Only trimming was to remove the end to make 'em open ended.

I have in mind to get a throttlemeister for next year too. These 400+ mile days are killing my wrist.

Took it for a ride today and the Throttle meister works very well. But it does make the handlebars vibrate more at 4000 up, 4200 is the most pronounced.

Did you get the regular or heavies Ted? I got the heavy and there's no more vibration, maybe less than the stockers.

Funny, when I put mine on (TM) I got less vibration and eliminated the audible buzz.

I think the heavy is the only one available for this bike.

They are the heavy, I am going to put the stock ends on and do a direct comparison. I am really, really, sensative to vibration.

Try one on each side to see...I found that the vibes didn't change at all from one to the next, which is the 1st time I've seen that with the TM's, but then again, the stock weights are pretty heavy to begin with.

You should be using as much shim as possible so that you only need 1/4 to 1/2 turn to lock. I used 1 washer and all shims and there is no rubbing when released, but locked with under 1/2 turn. Vibrations possibly lessened slightly or close maybe stayed the same. I really cranked the bolts, as I really dislike vibrations in the bars.

I still have all the adjustment that you do; however I can engage it easily with less than 1/2 turn. I don't see any advantage needing to turn the throttlemeister several revolutions to get it activated. In fact the kit comes with a decal showing off and on which assumes that that throttlemeister activates with 1/2 turn.

It takes that much to activate it? 1/2 turn seems excessive, no?

I've never ridden a bike with the throttlemeister, what's the technique to actually engage it once you have a favorable throttle position?

I see. Well again, to each his own. I think the lawyers put that on/off sticker in there. Kind of like putting "caution hot" on coffee cups.

Depending on how you shim it, it can take from about 1/8 to ¾ turn to lock.

You just put the throttle where you want it then roll your wrist outward and back on the TM to engage. It's easy once you get used to it.

More shims will require more turns. Like I said I used 0 shims. even the smallest shim would not allow it to lock.
They are very tight. The big difference is that the stockers are rubber mounted, and these are solid. It seems that these amplify certain frequencies, where the stockers dampen the vibes.

Ahh, that's right. I got it backwards. Are you sure that the plastic friction ring is properly installed? It seems odd that you have so little adjustment.

Nope, you should have shims...I do on mine and on my ZX14. The problem is that the plastic shim is sitting too close to the TM...you can move it back away from the TM and it should be fine, no matter how hard ya crank the bolts...I have always set mine up to lock at 1/4 -1/2 turn. Full twist just makes it really tight...

Plastic ring?? Mine didn't come with a plastic ring. This could be a reason I don't have to use shims. I will have to rectify this.

Yup...that's the problemo dude...it's supposed to rest against the ring, not the grip.
