OH HELL YEA.....just a little baritone but not too obnoxious....that sounds TITS! GOOD JOB...this is EXACTLY why I ALWAYS do aftermarket exhaust!

Personally I find the sound obnoxious.......... and the overall note of that exhaust untuned and flat.... If you are going to take it to the track with that pipe no biggie, but on the street and in your hood ( wherever you live) you will now be part of the problem. I recommend all riders from KLRs to this bike to think twice and think of the bigger picture before we all must stop at checkpoints entering Silverton Co. for an example, and being hassled by the police.... Think now or the Government will think for us..... again...... Get along with the cannon on the bike and just have fun, the bike needs no more power..... don't trade vain looks (nobody cares anyhow) for the slow destruction of the sport I think we all love.

Sorry daysofflride but I'd say 99% of the people disagree with you. I have a big V-Twin custom cruiser and that blows this bike away as far as the noise level goes, idling and cruising. If you heard the bike in person I think you may feel different about your opinion, but its your opinion and your entitled to it. The sound bite because it was taken below the midpoint in the bike sounded louder in the recording than it actually is. Its actually very easy to carry on a conversation with the bike running... its not obnoxious at all. Sorry but I guess I am a bit vain to... such a nice looking bike with an ugly can. I fixed it.

I like the look, but that is far, far, far too much noise for me. I would much rather have 2 very quiet cans than one loud one. I love the quiet even at low speeds. It is part of the appeal of this bike. Just wind noise makes my ears ring, a loud pipe really makes it bad. Tinnitus.

I love the looks of the can, Muzzy always puts out great quality, I have had a number of their systems on various bikes and loved them all. I would like a bit less noise, but its a sacrifice I would willingly make to get rid of that huge ugly stock can.

I think it sounds decent, but unlikely I'll be getting one.
Part of the appeal of this bike [to me], is that it's such a sleeper. The more youthful crotch rocket folks think you can't keep up. Also, I don't think the single pipe looks *that* bad. It's something that has grown on me in the almost 2 weeks of owning the bike.

Isn't it hard to tell the true db level of the exhaust from a video clip? I suspect the tone may be more accurate then the level?
Anyway, I don't think its near loud enough but OK for a cruising sport-tourer. To shed a ton of weight and lose that stock exhaust look, gain performance...win win. The big Harley cruisers, the ones the size of gold-wingers, are 10 times as loud even when not backfiring.
My Zx14 with a Brock's/Hindle gen3 is loud, especially since its got miles on it now, and my neighbors love me anyway

I haven't had a loud bike in almost 13 years. Back then the neighbors knew exactly when I was coming and going. I do miss the sound though. Money wise, I can't justify it just for looks and sound. The 7-8 hp gain (if that much) isn't worth the $$ IMO.

Thats what I said earlier in one of my responses that the clip was not a true representation of the sound. Depending on how far away you are and what height your at can change a recording quite a bit. The bite I created was right at the height of the exhaust. If I had taken it at rider head height it may have created a different sound. Sorry guys.... I can tell you its not as loud as it sounds in the bite. I can do another if you guys want.

The bike does sound nice.
That said:
Screw the performance increase, or the "improved looks," all I really care about is lighter weight and near as possible stock length. I don't want to feel like I have a significant percentage of the bike's total mass hanging off the right side as I ride (I know, I'm exaggerating, but you get the point). I also don't want a shorter muffler, so too much exhaust gas whips around in the Eddy current, and dirties up the hard bag too much.
Like I said, the only thing I don't like about the exhaust is the weight, everything else is secondary.... but since I mentioned secondaries:
Looks: Frankly, I think that the Concours 14 looks better with a hexagonal type shape. A simple muffler looks tacked on to me, it doesn't compliment the bike.
Power: Just getting rid of the catalytic converter in the muffler and properly mapping the ecu to account for that is going to yield solid increases in power and (more importantly) torque. No worries.
Material: Titanium for black anodized aluminum would be great. I'm not too keen on Carbon Fiber though, not on this bike anyways. First off, there isn't any CF anywhere else on the bike, so to me, the effect is like kids putting CF hoods on there cars just for the hell of it. Second, the Concours 14 is not a sport bike, so the CF muffler will only look even more out of place.
But hey, these are only opinions, and they can change.

Well that video could have been about a minute shorter. Sounds like an old pickup with a hole in the muffler at idle. Nice up top though, needs more bass please.
