That's so cool.... ! I remember the track before they lengthened it. My brother and I did a fan lap and camped in-field in '87. What a party It was so much more kicked back then.
I needed some gas to go into town and rode my little 500 Interceptor down to the pump in the pits. When I saw it was closed and there was know one around I made a loop to come back and someone whistled... It was Wayne Rainey's camp. they flagged me over and put "trick blue" in my tank. I remember asking if it would hurt my bike... (duh) and they all laughed and said "baby your bike will never run better!" Wayne gave me his autographed picture. Ahhh, those were the days ...

he lucky that makes you around my age doesnt it? I was at Seca in 88 and 89 screwing around with my friends and running practice laps! And you're right, it was a very laid back group on that track back then. Talk was: bikes, parties, bikes, cop run-ins, bike mods, and the occasional mention of the track times. Now its all about track times and $$$ mods, like everywhere else. Seems like everyone is more focused on specs and times nowadays. Which is why I ended up here where friendship and fun still seems to matter.
And: are you SURE the whistle came from there camp? After all I was there that year! And for damn sure I woulda whistled...
That 500 two stroke sure hauled ass back then didnt it? Funny, though. Watching that video after living in Washington State (the Evergreen State) the grass and bushes look so brown. When I was living in Sacramento back then I thought Seca was such a GREEN track. Guess Sacramento is just that BROWN lol.
