Man, it went down in the looks department. The tail though reminds me of the new 800 GP bikes.

Are we posers or riders? Would the pentagon deny higher performance new model planes because looks? If this bike beats the other litre bikes, I'm putting one in the garge.

I have a 14 and ride a busa and those are the two ugliest bikes on the face of the earth

Personally I prefer the looks of the ZX12 over the ZX14.

06 GSXR1000 over the 07 GSXR1000.

06 R1 over the 07 R1.

And I'll admit I also prefer the looks of the 07 CBR1000RR over the 08 so far, but I haven't seen it in person or better pics yet. BUT, If it's another world beater like the 93 CBR900, 98 R1, 01 GSXR1000, and 04 ZX10R I really don't care. Something tells me it's gonna end up with battle scared, flat black, track plastics anyways. The "pretty" always wears off after the first time it's sent down the track/street.

I for one love the looks of the ZX14.

I also prefer performance wrapped in a good package.

I'd rather have fun with a drop dead gorgeous model in bed that sucks at sex and have my way with her than some nasty pimply ass fat girl that is great in bed. Just my $.02

Plus I doubt anyone here will tap into any new potential that bike has to offer. If so, they should be in WSBK or GP.

You mean like if it has traction control? I would've thought that WOULD help some tap into more potential, but what do I know?

But then again, you're probably right. With that I change my mind, we don't need anymore technological advancements, anymore hp, no more lighter motorcycles. In fact all R&D can just stop here all together and concentrate on prettier bikes. I'm not a GP superstar so I could actually do with a heavier, weaker, slower bike, sounds like fun!

+1

slipper clutch was a hit, traction control may be too. because of the technology improvements within the industry, its a great time to be a motorcycle enthusiast.

For folks not caring about new technologies, its always fine to ride around on you 2001 'busa with a 300 rear tire and be KIng of the Sonic parking lot.

I'm far from a poser and never even BEEN to a bikenight in my life. I hate socializing on my bike so I've never experienced it. I ride with 1 or 2 friends at a time and we're always out on the back twisty roads in full leathers together. I don't care what others think...I care what I think, and I don't want an EYESORE. Traction control is a walking stick for the crippled. I vote it should be out of ALL motorcycle racing. The rider skill should be the traction control. I am totally against any traction control in racing. Plus, the bike looks FINE except for that damn NOSE, too flat for my taste.

Hell I've seen some ugly ass shitty cars that can rail better than a Mustang, but I'd rather have my mustang more than any other car. It's got the power and looks in my eyes. I want what I like and I don't want an eyesore.

Me liking the ZX10 or the 14 better must mean those bikes don't have performance ADAM? I'm sure there will be MANY riders on the 10 and some on the 14 that will STILL pass many that will posses the new Fireblade.

That is all.

Tell that to all the GP, WSB, and AMA Superbike riders that use it.

I never said the ZX10/14 didn't have performance, I certainly don't know why you made that up except to change the topic. But you did basically say we can't tap into the potential of the CBR(or ZX for that matter) so what's the point in buying a faster bike.

If you really feel that way then why do YOU ride a sportbike YOU can't ride at it's full potential? What's the point, right? Might as well buy a heavy, weak bike, correct? Every year the bikes get faster and lighter(most are anyways) and more powerful which is a good thing. Now that something non-Kawasaki might do it you say we can't ride it 10/10ths so what's the point?

If you rode all the literbikes around a road course, would all the lap times be the same? Would you still say a lighter/more powerful bike wouldn't make a difference even though you're not Hayden?

The traction control comment was more towards saying it would be more interesting of a race if it was more rider skill than traction control taking charge. IDK, that's just my opinion and a few others I've talked to. I agree on it though. You have the right to agree differently; I won't argue about your opinion Adam. You have a right to believe something just as much as I believe in something else. I hope it makes you really happy if you buy the fireblade. I'm just wanting to throw my $.02 in this conversation too. I'm not looking for a fight man, so don't take me that way please.

I'm not a racer, so I would honestly LOVE traction control, because I don't ride professionally. At the professional level though I don't think they should have it. Think of my opinion as putting professional racers on the "Expert" level of a video game. They're the best so they shouldn't be given any slack to make it easier. Safer, yes, easier, no. IDK, I'm sure my opinion could use some editing and revising, just like my old English papers.

I would like traction control, but I'd want it on a bike I think is more attractive, like the '07 CBR1000rr?

have you been to an ama race and seen the traction control working? its pretty awesome.

traction control just adds to race. its nothing more than allowing the riders to pin the bike sooner coming out of the turn, it actually makes the bikes/race faster.

Racing was truely a different animal without trac-control, we'll never see the likes of Rainey, Schwanz, or Ago again.

But I do love seeing technology advance, in GP, but AMA Superbike/WSB shouldn't allow things like T.C. until it comes stock from the factory streetbikes, forcing them to bring it to us 1st(we win). The way I see it they are racing streetbased machinery, they shouldn't have to take performance parts off of the streetbike in order to race it. Look at Nascar with their carbs and other old tech yet their street "counterparts" have fuel injection, ABS, TC(sometimes), plastic bodyparts etc...

Would it have killed Honda to make the 08 CBR look better? No, but we haven't seen much of it yet or in person. To some it's no big deal, to others it is. In the end Suzuki has been building ugly bikes for years and selling the shit out of them because of their known performance reputation. Hate to say it but spec sheets and magazines are the best form of advertisements, should a few hp or a few pounds make buying desicions? Not really but that's just how it is.

As for myself I won't be buying the 08 CBR1000RR anytime soon. If I did I wouldn't have enough money to comfortably do trackdays + races + crashes and all the costs included. Begining of next year I might buy another CBR954(my3rd) or look at a low miles 06/07 CBR1K until the used 08's come down on price.

Something tells me it's gonna gap the Literbike field next year and demand will be high, dealerships won't budge on the price of top product.

All I can remember about the last greatly hyped CBR1K was the 04 model and we all know how well that turned out. Lets see the comparisons on the tarmac. I look at those pics & see diff. plastics, Woo Whoo!!! A shorty(Ugly) muffler and that's about all I'm seeing different so, I will patiently wait. I've never owned a Honda and never had a want for one (w/ the exception of the 1983 interceptor). I don't see that changing by what I've seen so far.
