Does it say anywhere on the Arai helmet,how old is it? I thought nhra says you can't run a helmet over 5 y.o.I'm just not sure how long I've had it and will look for a new one if it's dated.

my arai has the manufacture date inside the strap. they say five years, your body fluids can make the interior degrade. for optimum safety this would be the rule, i'm sure it still protects after that but maybe not as high a level. the foam may loose it shock absorbency.

So what you appear to be saying is that if you don't buy Arai or possibly Shoei, You are getting a very substandard helmet.What is your experience that proves it?Do you have any facts other than that is what other racers or journalist wear?I believe the reason Arai might be so popular is they cater to different head shapes in stead of one shape fits all.I still haven't heard where Arai was a step above the rest.

Everywhere is where they are ahead... The plush insides and ability to custom fit the cheek pad, Skull Cap for a perfect fit are just a few. The airflow thru their helmets is far and away the best in the industry and to my knowledge something they were first to do. The shape of their shell is very smooth at speed and creates a low lift,and buffet situation for improved vision, control, and comfort. There aren't many other features you can ask for from a helmet,and Arai addressed them all first and best. Yea, there are a few other manufactures that have copied Arai and any good design can and will be copied. But supporting Arai will surely produce an even better product for the rest to copy in the future. Looks like I need to work for Arai don't it  ............... Step up to the BEST..... Kawasaki and Arai !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shameless plug for my beloved Kawasakis !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really don't care who came up with it first,the air flows through the helmet don't work worth a shit when its hot out and freeze your head when cold.The ability to custom fit the cheek and skull cap I admit as a nice feature but lets face it,the reason we buy helmets is for protection.I just don't see how one will protect my head to such a greater degree then the rest.I don't believe there has ever been a study on crash head trauma results.And to turn around and say the others are defectively poor in quality even though they passed the snell testing,just doesn't have any weight to it.I think it is like the big 4 Jap 1000cc bikes,their performance is so close as to never outshine the other 3 in all areas.If you get what you pay for,how come you guys aren't out there on Harleys?They are more expensive.

http://www.snell-helmet.com/ All those tests were done from a short distance.sure the helmet will help in most crashes but it's main purpose was the initial fall.That photo of the young kid whose head was stuck in the back of a trailer shows it has limits on impact.Your brain still smashes against your skull on impact and know protection will save it.how many people hit a car with their helmet at,let's say 40mph?Let me ask a different way,how fast do you think you could hit your head on an object and still survive with all your beans?

I do give lessons and although I usually charge... for you the schooling will be free.... come get you some IF you can keep that 12R running long enough to receive the spanking my pissie little 10R and ARAI shod GUNNER MAN will give out.. It's all good and nothing more than fun for me..... I also firmly believe in Vanson Leathers as well as Arai Helmets.... Comfort and fit mean a lot because you can't be fast if you're uncomfortable while you ride.. For what it's worth I don't like the people at Vanson but they have the best product out there...
