is this tire used or is it new? I know you're post states new -- but looks a little scuffed in the pics. could be your camera quality making it look that way too

I've logged 1600 drag race passes on my ZX-14 using 180-55's. They work great. Most passes were using this very same type of tire too. Hooks great!

The 180 is also a common mod to improve handling on bikes that came with a 190. The 180 is taller, which will quicken steering.
We have run 180 tires on 6" rims on high hp bikes, street and track. From street to drag to 228 mph on a Turbo Busa, they work great.

Guess I should've mentioned that I don't do drag -- but i still manage to do some track days occasionally at our local road course -- I've found that ( for me ) it gets less shimmy in the corners from a 190 55 17 instead of the factory 190 50 17; probably because I'm not railing on the bead as much with the extra height, and it gives me a little more lean if need be -- But I'm not as young as I used to be and don't wring it quite as hard anymore, so that bit of extra tire helps me feel a bit safer.........but everyones got to figure out what works best for themselves and more importantly, their riding style. Sorry for the confusion -- I wasn't saying that you can't run 180's on a 14, only that I don't

The 190/55 is a super tall tire...that will strongly affect handling.
A totally different tire from a 180/55.
I have run 180's for thousands of miles on the streets/backroads. As I said, very common mod to enhance handling.
