Suzuki flat blows Kawi away when it comes to marketing. If anyone doubts that, watch the total sales of the 'busa and the cultish following of the '08.

Squids will be lining up at dealerships on their knees worshipping the bike as they wait for their credit approvals to come through.

I don't know where you get that impression. From where I sit, it's Kawasaki that has the more aggressive marketing campaign. As much as it pains me to say so being a dyed in the wool Kawasaki fan, where Suzuki blows Kawasaki away is the racetrack. I'm sure the new Busa will be no exception on the dragstrips.

Ok here's where I get that impression:

Kawi has a nice video and a few commercials and magazine adds sure. but the old 'busa had record sales year one and two. the Hayabusa sales are incredible todate, even before this model. the ZX14 have sold, but nothing like the Hayabusa in its first two years.

the 'busa has a cultish following and enjoys heavy brand loyalty. even though the new busa looks like a bubba from the trailer park raped it from behind during the design phase, look out sales is going to be crazy

The cultish following has nothing to do with marketing though, Steve. When that first generation Busa came along back in '99 you gotta admit there was nothing else like it. It flat blew everything else out of the water. To me that was it's own marketing call. I can't see any marketing advantage to creating such a god awful ugly motorcycle. Had they consulted anyone other than the designers and certainly the marketing folk, Suzuki would have been told to scrap that hideous tail section for fear that it would hurt sales, at least imo.

The reason the Busa sells so well is good product and ease of maintenance and aftermarket parts. I notice the ZX12 did'nt sell as well either. But they sold! I am a die hard Suzuki fan but I have seen some good performance out of the ZX12, but the Busa just sold itself actually. The custom market is a real big factor in the sale of the Busa. Think about it, most of the time when you see a Busa in a magazine it is customized. Sometimes performance is'nt enough to sell a bike. In the South people are real consious about looks so chrome, extended swingarms, widetire kits damn near over take the performance market.
