No problem here- sun and clouds the last couple days- we might see some rain, but we're not expected to get hit with anything too nasty.
It's rare for a typhoon to make landfall in my part of Thailand- in the 12 years I've been here, we've been threatened by one only once (maybe 10 years ago) and it ended up missing us.

Weather is good here, as you can see in the video clip. Rain is over for the most part, except in the south, which I don't ride in anyway.

Interesting bikes you've got there- is that the Super Duke that was at RB a few months ago? I like that beast.

I brought the duke over from the states, back in 11' before they changed the rules. Sold my 08 14, waiting to get a 14' sent over. The turbo 12 is the one that set the record for a bagger, still waiting for plastics to be shipped over and it's pretty much ready. The other 12 is my 00' that has entirely to much money in it.
Can't see enough of the scenery where your bike is parked, to figure out where it's at?

That's on Koh Samui near the ferry pier. I won't be getting up north for a while, but maybe in the second half of 2014 I'll have time (I'm planning a move that may have me settling in Ratchaburi- it's closer than I am now to the good roads, but still a bit of a haul). I'm thinking of picking up a literbike (maybe an S1000RR) and I'd like to get up there on both it and the 14R soon.

Got a thai budd who's one of the biggest importers of new bikes at the moment, he lives in ratchaburi. About 450 clicks from where I am in Phetchabun. Phetchabun is the starting area of most of the good roads.

Yeah- even if I make the move it's still a bit far for a day trip, but I'll try to take the occasional weekend (and I've got a trailer coming from Upbeat- i don't want to pull 500km days just slogging through cities trying to get to the 'A' roads and arrive there already pretty beat, especially if a get the BMW- that's probably nothing for you, but I haven't been pulling that kind of distance for quite a while ).

I've been known to chuck the scoot in the back of the vigo and head out, especially if the GF is with me. On my own, I'll just throw a bit a gear in the bag and go for it. Can actually make pretty good time on most of the roads, even with a few keystone cops in the mix

You been to Nan? One of the best mountain crest roads is between Nan and Chiang Muan. Well worth a ride if you come up this way.

I've been up there in a car, and I've ridden a lot of Chiang Mai on a supermoto, but I just haven't had time to spend more than a day or two each trip- that should change in 2014.
I do most of my riding in the south, but it's not nearly as good as the north.

Back in my Samui days, mid 90's, I would get up early and make the loop around the island on a rented cbr 400. Always did it early, before all the knuckleheads woke up. Good fun back then, but I haven't been there since 98 and I guess it's changed a bit?

The loop is the same, but the knuckleheads have greatly increased (you wouldn't believe it- I've been coming here since the early 90s and living here since 2001, and it's just not the same place- it hasn't changed for the better, and I'll be happy to move to the mainland)- from Monday through Saturday, you need to be on the road before 7am to enjoy it- it's a bit better on Sunday, but it's worse every year. There's some excellent new blacktop just past Nathon, but it only lasts a couple km. It's a stupid place for a 14R, but I got it for when I can get off the island for a day or two.

My wife is from BKK- we own land in Ratchaburi, though, and we might build some kind of resort there. I've got a lot of business stuff to tie up before I can leave Samui (and I'll have to sell my house), but it should be mostly done by the end of the year- after that it will be time to make a move.
