What do you guys think 1441 or 1510?

I wanna start my engine build for winter, and im stuck between a 1441 with a 4mm crank or a 1510 (2x4). Wheelbase would be between 68-71. Whats the hp/tq difference and would I have too go aggressive on the cams to maximize power. I currently have 395In and 378EX cams in the box and a fresh cylinder head ported, milled, valve seatsmachined, and dual springs with retainers. It will be a dedicated dragbike ALLMOTOR nitrous is out of the question.

Im looking for 245-260hp range, and 3mm bore is a no go for me.

If you're looking for 245-260 at the tire I think you're going to need all the cc's you can get to get there. I don't see a 1441 doing it especially without some much bigger cams. Who did the head?

Ours is the 2X4 and we run stock cams etc, and the head is mildly cleaned up. Does a decent job for what it is.

Vance and Hines proport head with stock buckets and ill be installing the cams I mentioned. I've seen guys squeeze 240s out of 1407 so im thinking a little bigger should have me covered. If its a matter of bigger buckets and custom grinds, well im thinking thats what I will do. Im also looking for ceramics for the transmission, if anybody knows what its worth?
And so you guys think its achievable with a 1510? I will be running MRX02.

The cams you have on a 1441 will make the power you are looking for as well as the 1510. If you had the newer cases that utilized the longer rod that also would help your cause.

I think a 2x4 or 2x5 motor will put down in the 240's to 250's on a dyno especially if it's one of the "friendly" ones. I'm not saying you cannot make 245 (not 260) with a 1441 but you probably will have to put in the Busa buckets and large custom cams to get there. 47mm or 48mm throttle bodies will make your goal a lot easier to attain also. This same power level is what we're looking for from the motor that Shorty from Madness Racing is doing for us this Winter. I'm leaving it up to him whether he goes with a 2x4 or 2x5 but he's going to use one or the other. I can't have a 3 mil either because we might have to spray the motor if it won't run the number NA. I have ceramic bearings in the transmission of our GSXR1000 but couldn't begin to tell you how much power they're worth. I'd guess 2, maybe 3 but that's pure speculation.

With the 395 cams he has on a gen 2 motor you can still use the gen1 head and install in a gen 1 bike with the correct internals and mapped on the correct fuel it will be right at 240. A 2x4 or 2x5 will get you closer to 260 or more. Just seen a 2x5 last night go 259 and ran out of injector. The injectors were at 100% duty cycle by 8000 rpm and it was at 162 ft/lbs tq. It was still lean up top. So if its tuned with the correct fuel , yes its very possible

162ft/ lbs! Well that makes my decision quite easy. 1510 it will be, 1530 or 1570 is nice but was never crazy about short rods or thin side walls. Im looking for a 7 on muscle, and will lightening up the chassis along with the wallet.
