Speedometer malfunction

My speedo while ignition is on or motor running the needle goes up to 100mph and stays there until turned off. Any ideas on what to check?

- Unplug the sensor down at the sprocket cover and see if it does it then. If not, faulty sensor perhaps?

- Speedohealer installed? If so.. bypass it and test.

Yes, got the old school speedo healer and don't have a clue how it works.

Will check sensor. Noticed the guage malfunction after swing arm and chain install.

Pulled sensor, no effect. Might be something at the guage cluster?

Could be. Do the needles sweep when you first turn the key on? I'd start checking the wire harnesses and think about what was last worked on.

Completely take the speedohealer out of the circuit, if you have not already.

Clean contacts and reinstall stock parts, then test again.

Found the problem (human error). Kawasaki did a frame swap(cracked frame) and had the black speedo sensor plug mated into a white plug and vise versa. I know it wasn't me because it worked before I brought it to them.

Thanks 1bad for the tip. That's at least twice you figured some issues out for me-lol

Frame crack huh? Wow! How many miles on it when you noticed the crack? I would have thought cracked frames were in our rear view.. guess not? I check my 07 frame every time I am under it.. looks fine.. fingers crossed. I did the service bulletin myself and it was never over torqued... time will tell I guess?

Also, glad you figured out the issue, but I am curious as to how 1Bad factors into the fix?... he sending you advice telepathically?

6500 miles on the odometer, im not the first owner either. I only ride this bike at the drag strip. Frame had two cracked welds I saw when I pulled the motor out.

1bad knows his shit when it comes to the 14. Gotta give credit where it's due.
