2012-13 ZX14 rods work in 09 ZX14?
Found a set of new take out rods from a 12 model. will they work in my 09? I see they use the same connecting rod bearings.

they might work with some stroker pistons. i think the new rods are around 3mm longer. but why replace stock rods with more stock rods? are they supposed to be stronger or am i missing something here.

Don't all the after market beefy rods weight more? So unless you are doing a turbo or bigger bore and stroke etc.. more weight in your rotating mass = slower revving than stock without the additional comp or boost etc... Yes I know the point is to get more displacement run higher compression etc.. using stock 14r rods might be a easy way to get a lighter weight faster revving stock bore motor... but you'd need the stroked crank also, right? Would sure like to know all the details if anyone is doing this or has done. The 14r of course has more stroke.. I'd bet the challenges are more than just the rods... like cylinder length etc. Anyway.. sure wanna hear details about it from anyone going there.

rods are 3mm longer the case is 5mm taller. With the extra 2mm of the crank and the 3mm of the rod that equals to the height of the case. Better rod to stroke ratio and it still uses the same after market pistons. The 2012 /13 rods are supposed to be beefier on the ends.
